I'm not a vocalist expert but it looks like she is struggling and these long pauses to take a breathe. If Mariah was to do this every performance around that time, her voice would have been shoot before butterfly.

Mariah voice was shot by the time butterfly was released and this is better than any live version of mariah's who can't sing at all now btw
