TLC's only scripted drama "Too Close to Home" has been cancelled, a TLC spokeswoman confirmed to me exclusively Thursday.
The soapy Tyler Perry drama, which aired two seasons in 2016 and 2017 and was shot in metro Atlanta, is no longer listed on the TLC press site or its regular website. TLC had said nothing about its future until today.
Actors who were attached to the program were free to pursue other projects starting in September. The last new episode aired in February, 2017.
TLC had never aired a scripted drama before and it seemed out of place between episodes of its reality-based lineup featuring shows such as "My 600 LB Life" and "90 Day Fiance." The premise of "Too Close to Home" was a White House intern who was caught sleeping with the president and returned to her trailer-park roots in Alabama. Heather Locklear even made a few appearances as the president's wife.
Perry earlier this year signed a deal with Viacom, which owns BET, VH1 and MTV. His deal with OWN ends in 2019. TLC is a sister station of OWN, where Perry's current TV programming resides.

IMDB.com, viewers gave "Too Close to Home" a mediocre 5.2 out of 10 among 815 reviews. A TVLine critic wrote a story in February before the season 2 finale with the headline: "TLC's 'Too Close to Home' is the Worst Show I Can't Stop Watching."
Frankly, the latest offering from the House of Tyler Perry is the creative equivalent of a train wreck making love to a dumpster fire, then slapping a man bun on top for good measure
