Lolz, I don't think that's why she was mad at him because the label wanted Tim to have the first single and Liyah pushed for More Than a Women on her own remember. So if she was mad, it was because they choose Resolution over Women for first single.

The label wanted the tried and true formula but Aaliyah wanted what she wanted, regardless of whether it would "flop" or not. Aaliyah wasn't a "gotta have a hit :fuming: "  type artist.

!!!!

Sis loved the music she made and you could tell.

I never thought her death was an accident. I think it was just her time to go. It was too much money on the table for Barry and her at that time to have her killed. He was struggling afterwards to find artists.

Queen was really out here not performing WNAR and just strictly doing MTAW. Her rehearsing WNAR in her Diary episode was such a tease b/c it never came to life.  :'(

MTAW would've been a cute lead though and I guess a proper follow up to the Try Again success but she wouldn't be Li if she ain't go with the too left choice w/ WNAR

I would love for someone who worked on that campaign to really give BTS insight

I do think she wanted to avoid being too predictable and formulaic as an artist.  A run to Tim for a hot bop mess would have been expected.  And safe.

She already struck gold when she gave relative unknowns a chance to take the helm of her previous album.  She wanted to do the same thing with Keybeats.  Sis was a risk-taker.  :oof:

Keybeats didn't make anything on that album single worthy. The label knew that.

She really should have that time, tbh.

I think the album and Barry were putting needless pressure on her because they panicked once WNAR didn't pop like they wanted.  They rushed her to film the RTB video, didn't book flights properly to accommodate the entire crew, and tragedy was the result.  I don't think there would have been all that pressure had MTAW been dominating the airwaves at the time.  :stressed:

Sadly I don't believe proper bookings of flights was the cause. I don't think her death was accidental. Never have.

Whatchu mean, love?   :omgwatshappening: :omgwatshappening: :omgwatshappening: :mmyulost:

It's so funny because I forgot they did that. It sounds nothing like Loose Rap, Extra, Between the Lines, U Got Nerve and stuff. I guess because it was recorded years prior. Boat and Kane was their only single worthy mess.

Those Were the Days.  And It's Whatever, especially.  I think they had good single choices.

No

Mrd0ndada

"It's whatever" could've def been a single.

imagine her being able to do visual for that & "I care 4 u"

🙄

CREAM.

The rollout should have been

RTB
MTAW

and I dunno what a third choice could have been. It's not a "singles" album

It's weird to me that a lot of Lis don't really use Resolution. As a Tim stan it's one of my fave productions  :ohwow:

ummm

I LOVE WNAR.

I've stanned on here countless times n

But for a first single? No. It was too dark for spring time and a reintroduction back into music after not putting an album out in 5 years
