I dont wanna hear a Shaggy record on a Rihanna project. Shaggy's corny as hell. I'd prefer her to work with the youngins like he said, like Koffee, Popcaan, Konshens, Dexta Daps, Shenseea, etc. That's like Ariana Grande doing a record with Madonna. For what?

As a Jamaican and a nigga that listens to reggae/dancehall music wholeheartedly from birth, no one can knock Shaggy for his impact. But my point is, Shaggy isn't some hitmaker. U dont hear Beyonce running to Kandi to write her a hit record in 2020. And as I mentioned, Ariana isn't running to Madonna or Paula Abdul for a collab. Shaggy is good for a throwback mess. He hasnt had a hit in like 2 whole decades.

There are soooo many artists that Rih can collab with instead. He's dope, but just wouldn't add any flair to Rihanna's project. Her album isn't meant to be a 'We Are The World' compilation of reggae greats. If that was the case, she should get Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Shabba Ranks on the project too.

If anything, from her description, her album is meant to be inspired by reggae and dancehall. So like Shaggy rightfully said and I agree with him, Rih needs to work with the newer dancehall/soca/afrobeat writers, artists and producers to carve out a more progressive sound for her. Shaggy isn't that. I would take a Jah Cure collab w/ Rih over a Shaggy one any day. U dont hear any TRUE reggae/dancehall fans running to listen to a Shaggy tune these days. Not since 'Hey Sexy Lady'.

I stopped at shaggy hasn't had s hit on 3 whole decades. Shaggy is still making music and still getting plaques. And people who have a name in a particular genre of music don't need to still be getting hits in 2020. This doesn't negate what they did. Ariana isn't making music with Madonna because they are in 2 different wheel houses but someone would still jump at the chance to make a song with Madonna.......STILL
