According to some posts on here, the following artists are recent industry plants:

- Lizzo
- H.E.R.
- Billie Eilish
- Camilla Cabello?
- Tori Kelly?

Why do y'all think anyone would try to shove these people down our throats?

Isn't that what a good label/ management team should do for an artist they believe in? Is this always related to some kind of agenda (e.g. the body positivity movement with Lizzo)?

I wouldn't count any of those as industry plants (except maybe FATzo) but Lil Nas X is one for sure.

I think it originated when people became aware that there were artist posing as indie artist but they were really backed by a major. Of course, people just started using outside of that context when they couldn't comprehend how someone who wasn't on their personal radar became successful.

QuoteIn general, "industry plant" is a pithy derogative that we (haters) wield to imply that a rapper or singer is an upstart fraud, a record label puppet, a focus group-tested vessel of creativity so-called

but industry plants are basically puppets. over-hyped & lie about their come-up to cover up how they are where they're at.
