Nappy hair is a word used to described kinky hair. Kinky hair is actually a real thing, and a real category. It's the negative connotations that we attach to these descriptions or categories that make them a "bad thing".
e.g. "You nappy headed bitch." I don't like the word "nappy" (only because I know how many people use that word), and I'd never use it to describe someone else's head. It's quite offensive. Although I have seen people use it with pride. There are many people trying to REVERSE the negative feelings toward the name. And infuse it with pride and love.
yeah, I'm kinda bothered at how strong the connotation is tbh.

Black people are really taught to believe their natural mess is bad  :usureuok:

Well most of the blacks at my school had fades, relaxers, and weaves so anything "natural" was considered Nappy unless it was soft wavy curls.
I've always attended mixed schools but now I'm wondering wtf kinda children I went to school with as I grow

:everythingok:

I mean I attended an all black school.

I didn't get called any names but honestly they had me in FEAR of being perceived as too black because the darkest, nappiest, and more "African Looking" kids got tore the fuck apart whenever people just randomly check people.

I never got it either tonio...

And if y'all are saying "kinky" hair is "Nappy" hair.....

don't hispanics and whites have Nappy hair textures too?
:ohwow:

Your hair, to me at least, is nappy or kinky, when you can't just comb it or when you can't change your hair style by simply adding water. You can literally cut it like a hedge and make shapes. That is nappy hair.

Isn't nappy hair very course and kinky hair? Like the type of hair you can't comb through easily. That's what I thought it meant at least.

Well, yeah. I was kinda on my "soapbox" about Eurocentric standards of beauty that are forced on us the other week and was pretty much told to shut the hell up. :plzstop: :plzstop: :plzstop:

It's definitely real.

!

I don't know if it has to do with brainwashing completely. The white kids probably dragged the girls who came to hair with "bed head"

OMG

This girl moved to America from some country in Africa and was extremely dark

They were picking on her, so much that our teacher kicked all the white kids out of our class for a moment and READ us

Nappy hair

Less nappy hair

It is just a level of KINK or velcroness if you will...

AA's have a deep issue with their hair and skin though. I noticed this since I was a child. It's scary when whites are the ones complimenting ya curly Afro or braids but the nigs are wondering when you're going to straighten it  :ohwow:

They do! The morenos and negros usually do the Romeo Santos hairstyle.
