Well, she's absolutely right about that.
There's no reason why Rihanna should still be teasing an album almost
a whole year after the first single was released.

Either release it, or just go sit down somewhere.

Sometimes, to stay alive, you must consume the darkness
that surrounds you before it consumes you.

LOL at someone in here trying to take up for their faves and their floppage.

Once you get to the 3rd single and your album is delayed several times over ...it's safe to say you're going to flop. You might as well scrap the project and wait a year or two to start anew.

I agree... and the ONLY artist I wouldn't hold that against is Bran but Thats because Im a stan!

Most of your buying public is not gonna be hard core fans. There will be a lot of casual listeners that liked your 1st and/or 2nd single  that purchase your album. You need to get those buyers ASAP because the average buyer will get bored and tired of waiting and lose interest. They will play out the song or 2 or more that they heard and be over it once album release time.

I think there should be a 8-12 week build up. And during that time release a single (or 2) do some shows, make your promo rounds (radio and TV) spread it out with heavy promo the week before and week of album release. Make it feel like an event. get the causal listeners excited and hold their attention. Your fans/stans will be there regardless.

I mean...
if you're a fan of someone it shouldn't matter how many singles they put out
when the full drops, you should buy regardless.
but ud most likely be buying out of obligation than interest

It's true. Chris Brown and Rihanna are perfect examples. Rihanna is even having trouble releasing the damn album now....

I agree.

Too much emphasis is placed on first week sales that no one wants to actually work their project. But some of that has to do with the Stan climate as well...the Internet loves to argue sales figures and chart positions - all the while, failing to release some of the most albums and singles never went #1 or sold a million out the gate.

Releasing more than 2 singles before album release is a sign that you really don't believe in the album you put together.

Funny thing is, some of you are mad because she does large numbers and is saying this. You are the same ones who would be saying what right does she have to say this if she wasn't doing so well. It's refreshing to see a popular artist who isn't afraid to voice their opinion.
