This is Afrodisiac tone, personified:

Full moon brandy would NOT have attacked it like this. It would've been very different, though still dope.

There's this very very small and subtle nuance that she does right at 2:32 after the very first run that she does to open up her part on this song, and she did that a lot during the AFRO era. "HEEEEeeeeeey yeeeea ...  nah"

With the slight rasp at the very end to set it off. Very signature for the Afrodisiac era and album
:plzstop:
yea this is very TAOL runs wise
!!!

Like wtf
:plzstop:

Her Afro tone just depended on the day she woke up cause...too many varieties. But her vocal approach def wasnt like this on the 1st 3 eras. I dont know how to describe it but it was more of a vocal attack.
!!!!! It was more raw on some tracks and less "produced" i think

Songs like "like it was yesterday" are a great example

:plzstop:

Now wait
If like it was yesterday is considered Afro, then I'm changing my damn answer. That is one of my favorite vocal performances from Brandy EVER. Her tone was EVERYTHING
Afro was kinda schizo cuz she had SEVERAL voices on that album :dead:

LOVE that song too she sounded AMAZING and some of my favorite runs
its produced by Mike City who of course did Full Moon
but I think it was a B-side to TAOL or one of the Afrodisiac songs so
its kinda in between

Mary's reaction gets me everytime :dead:

But yea, Timbo has Brandy SINGING.

I still feel like if she would've performed Afro tracks live we would've seen a lot more powerful vocals th and the album versions.

!!!!! I wish she trusted herself more. ESPECIALLY that era. Like, girl. The music speaks for itself. You don't have to be like anyone else on that stage

When people like Fantasia say "this is the only vocal im scared to get on a stage with" she wasn't gassing it. If brandy only knew sssss

I love that Babyface made sure the 90's queens had their own solo mess on that song. Mary, Monica and Bran

We need another one of these. I want everyone letting us fucking HAVE it, vocally.

!!!!

He gave Faith a part as well

I love this record ; and it's so appropriate

Something like this has to be made again

lovechild

Ugh that's too hard!!  It's somewhere between the nostalgic tone of NSN , the raw tone of Afro and the silky beautiful tone on Human. IDK!! Depends on my mood and where I am in life tbh all I know is I need her to give me a little bit of all of it on Be7.

Guys ... If at all possible, please ignore wtf she has on and grab some GOOD headphones

This is one of the craziest fucking versions of Afrodisiac she has EVER done

Did anyone catch that "A-fro-disiiiac-YEeah" @ EXACTLY 21 seconds in?! There's no fucking way that's normal. How did she hear that?

:plzstop:

Someone quote me and answer. I've listened to this plenty times and never caught it
