I'm sure they wanted more info on the virus before officially deciding how they wanted to move forward. Now the clear plan is about tying it into the Mother's Day holiday which was likely discussed right when they postponed the song 

I'm not saying her song will do better than anyone else or that the rollout will be perfect. Just that i understand why they didn't just throw it out without coming up with another idea and a better date
