I don't think the break was the problem. It was really the fact that it took so long for THAT album. It would've been worked if it came maybe a year after and then followed with another contemporary album shortly after..

OT: I think the guy in the video dancing with her is the bisexual puetro rican that she wrote the songs Primer Amor and Infatuation from the Stripped album about.

I remember an article that quoted her saying she had to dump him because she got tired of wondering if he was checking out guys and girls.
