If they accepted this mess, most of, if not ALL their frequent donors would have pulled out 

I'm the executive director of a 501c3. When you apply for grants, they require you to list your other funders and donors. I would NEVER list this damn clown as a donor at the risk of losing my other supporters

Sorry but charities can refuse to publicly endorse someone but they are in no place to deny funds. Accept that check and then drag them afterwards
