Background only release their singles to radios. It was released as a physical copy single overseas. But it still was an R&B #1.

Yeah but everything happens for a reason u know smh. If her music was available, she would really be that girl. Her music aged better than any of the 90s artist in my opinion and her style was so 2030.

It was a big hit. Just never sold and released for a single. They wanted people to buy the album so it didn't chart because at the time billboard only allowed songs that were released as singles to chart on Hot 100.

These are the things that don't get annotated in history and doesn't translate over time.

They tried her  :uhh:

That's a dumb ass rule
So glad they did away with that mess

CREAM.

Yeah Blackground did that with a couple of her singles...

The fact that they did well with the fucked up politics behind them says a lot

Could have done better if released properly

I think Background did this because of Pony. I remember everybody in the hood had that green and black pony cd single and didn't care for the album.

It was the way of the times, and it was mainly jive/background more than Billboard. Because fact is album sales used to be more prominent and profitable than just selling a 1.99 single back then so it made business sense. There was no limewire/itunes mess, so if you wanted it you was coming off that 12.99 - 15.99 for all of it.
