Brandy has always been at a disadvantage because she's been meshed up with Monica since the very beginning. They both have two different perspectives but Monica's is more relatable to the hood girls so it's easier for them to pick Brandy apart for no reason.

I don't think this is true at all. To me, it's the other way. Monica is just as successful but when Brandy is mentioned with her, people just discredit Monica's success as an artist when they don't have to. One had more success, true. But it doesn't negate the fact that the other one was just as important to 90s R&B, especially for the 90s teens
I agree, but Brandy often gets discredited aswell, even with the successes she's had.

!!! People DEFINITELY try to downplay Brandy's accomplishment. Social media has a very short memory.

I don't think Brandy gets the credit she deserves, but like Glock was saying, she just needs to stand in her mess. Also, honestly, she needs to start speaking on her contributions. Not arrogantly, but still.  She doesn't do that enough. All this moody, sleepy R&B, she did it with Afrodisiac before ANYONE else, but many don't know that. That's something that should be pushed. How people stack and arrange their harmonies come from her, that should be acknowledged some how.

I feel its the Black crabs in a barrel thing. Anytime one of us crosses over from Whitney & Michael, down to Usher, Bey, Bran etc they get discredited & called fake, sellout etc until ppl feel they have "humbled" them

Agreed

Subtle reminders. The whole "i forgot what i did. Feels like I'm starting over" mess used to drive me insane

As of late, she's been getting better and better at carrying herself as the icon she is. Not perfect, but a million times better.

Her biggest accomplishment to date, other than being a mother is literally birthing a whole sub-genre

Do u know how hard that is?
No one else can truly say that
She did a THING.

This r&b shit right now is literally sounds she birthed with her amazing producers and vocal producer

I get it because you want to be graceful and humble
But Queen Bey has no problem talking her shit..
