Brandy has always been at a disadvantage because she's been meshed up with Monica since the very beginning. They both have two different perspectives but Monica's is more relatable to the hood girls so it's easier for them to pick Brandy apart for no reason.

I don't think this is true at all. To me, it's the other way. Monica is just as successful but when Brandy is mentioned with her, people just discredit Monica's success as an artist when they don't have to. One had more success, true. But it doesn't negate the fact that the other one was just as important to 90s R&B, especially for the 90s teens

I don't think Brandy gets the credit she deserves, but like Glock was saying, she just needs to stand in her mess. Also, honestly, she needs to start speaking on her contributions. Not arrogantly, but still.  She doesn't do that enough. All this moody, sleepy R&B, she did it with Afrodisiac before ANYONE else, but many don't know that. That's something that should be pushed. How people stack and arrange their harmonies come from her, that should be acknowledged some how.

She sounded a fucking mess but the crowd loved it and thought she slaughtered Brandy because she was louder.

then when they came back during Destiny Fulfilled more urban and less successful we loved them again
