I do like how Chris and Trey went on tour together and brought all those R&B acts as special guests. That was dope. The males def. show love more. Maybe, that's why many of them last longer in the business.

yea, people forget that EVERYONE was into R&B. its not that black people aren't supporting ...  i think the main thing is, everyone else has simply lost interest :dead:  it isn't "cool" anymore to sing ur ass off

You basically have to rap or talk/sing

Monica always says this:
QuoteMore R&B artists need to support each other. Real support means touring together, forming alliances, dropping the ego and competitive spirit and rising up together. This means so-called mainstream R&B artists that get those major looks at radio or television need to reach out and down; to uplift someone else. Hip Hop gets it! Rap artists support each other. They are the perfect example of combining resources, forming alliances and winning together.

And i agree.  Especially the R&B females ...  their competitive spirit isn't in a healthy way. They all hate on, and shade each other   :dead: Lalah Hathaway sits up on twitter and does it all the time
what R&B females are hating on each other right now?

What R&B females do u see touring and promoting together doing duets? And with major names like Bey & Rih?

It's not happening. R&B doesn't have the voice it use to have.

I really hope Tamar and Mo keep their word and tour together. They could be a force if they do this right. Old & New school R&B
didnt Mary just tour with Tamar?
Bey, Kelly & Michelle get together like once every year
Faith put out her duet with Keke Wyatt, it got ignored
K Michelle and Tamar performed together at the BET awards
Lalah H and Chrisette did the Soul Train cypher
each example no one responds to
thats great. just need more of it consistently

No one is saying this will be the sole reason sales increase but it'll HELP. Not just when some labels force the girls together  :dead: that forced Tamar and K.michele mess. They'll never get on another stage together. literally shading each other days after the performance smh

Faith and Keke are friends and thats great, but even Faith had Issues with Fantasia backstage at a recent show on BET when Faith did the J.cole song. Some real catty shit about how long each of them were supposed to rehearse or some shit. Its ALWAYS some mess
not Fantasia & Faith :(
but see that was behind the scenes, I didn't hear anything about that
they kept it professional on camera, tbh. I mean who cares if they shade each other. Aretha, Dionne, Patti & the older legends did it all the time. That shouldn't stop ppl from buying, hell it should create buzz and generate more

tigernathan

and Chris last album had like three duets with different R&B artists. He slays for that.

tigernathan

Also Ty $. Always showing love.

Love that boy.

Buying music just isn't a priority. And there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot more important shit to put money toward

this is true. the only sucky thing about it is, it can affect future working relationships and become a one time thing. But i agree with you ... its gonna take a lot more than just getting together and touring together.

Especially when you come out with a song as late as Backyard Potty

idk I don't really like mainstream R&B anymore. It sounds so late and stale.

I prefer what they call PBR&B

Rnb music needs to reinvent itself. Needs to create a new genre, incorporate new elements, explore new horizons.

People are just sick of all these delayed acrobatic vocals, all these same delayed ass beats and the imagery that goes with it.
why is Adele selling like hot cakes? Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Tori Kelly etc?

I don't know to be honest... The "imagery" maybe? And I'm not talking about being black or the race issue. Like I said in a previous thread Beyonc? or Rihanna are doing very well.  I think that hip-hop greatly unfluenced rnb music in a negative way in term of codes and images (pools, bitches, cars, money, ghettos... dlldldldld). People tend to associate these two genres of music. I think it's time for rnb to emancipate itself from the hip hop influence and explore a whole new sound.

and the competitiveness makes things interesting.
:sevynstreeter:

d

not when no one is checking for the genre.

do you feel rnb is too hard to grasp these days meaning some songs are too wordy

ppl want simple shit they can single along easy too and something they feel like THEY sound good singing

i mean taylor swift anyone can sing that she isnt even vocals or range or good lyrics but her choruses are catchy and are easy to sing along too .. same with most of the billboard top 10

cause baby we got bad blood
you know it used to be mad love
so take a look at what youve done
cause baby now we got bad blood

are we outta the woods yet
are we outta the woods yet
are we outta the woods yet
are we in the clear yet
are we in the clear yet

haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate
players gonna play play play play play

i wonder if rnb artist made silly childish lyrics like that would it sell??
maybe they are trying to hard
