My thing is... it's clear Irv Gotti pulled strings to get Ashanti on the record and Fab and his label likely wanted her to replace Tamia because of the fact that it would be a guaranteed hit at the time.

They should just say that  this made up story is ridiculous

Ashanti was on the single version, Irv wouldn't let her shoot the video for the single so the label/Fab went with Tamia to re-record her original vocals for the single version.

thats actually not true though, Irv didnt want Ashanti on this
or anything outside of Murder Inc at the time and is the reason Ashanti never even knew she was supposed to do the video

Fab tried to pull one and it got blocked

I like the solo version with Tamia any way
