I know most of us probably say "hey guys" and mess but I've found myself finding alternatives with all this identity mess going on

The chat client I use for work autocorrected me weeks ago when I typed "hey guys" before submitting ... "Did you mean hey everyone? "

I was like wtf at first but it made sense :.. with people having their preferred pronouns in their email siggys and mess .. when it's kinda obvious they'd be a "she/her" etc .

Not a huge fan of all the language policing but I def have started to remove it from my vocab.

In a professional setting, I've made it a habit to just say, "Hey everyone." Especially since I work with mostly females, as it is.
Any other time, I just use "guys" or "bro". Or addressing girls, "ladies."

I believe in being respectful, but don't ask me to not see you for what you are.

That's a bit tricky for me. It just depends on the extent of it.
I worked with a girl once who claimed to be a boy, but she was just so very clearly a girl.
And it's just awkward for me. I was just genuinely confused whenever she would refer to herself as being a boy and being a "guy" for her girlfriend.

And I just...  I didn't know what to say or do. I was just lost.

I've encountered some trans people who I couldn't even tell what they were; I either thought they were actually a boy or a girl as they've actually gone through the transitions and have taken the appropriate supplements.

This is still new territory for me and I'm traversing it the best way that I know how.

I try to be as sympathetic and as understanding as I can. I like people to feel welcomed and accepted at the very end of the day.
