By reducing it to a slogan reduces the political point of it, it just becomes another phrase with no power or meaning, repurposing a tag line and using it for negative propaganda

it is true that the phrase "defund the police" loses ppl (mainly dumb republicans)
IDK if he's saying he doesnt want to defund them but a lot of ppl get scared and think it means completely removing the police
instead of what it really means which is not spending soooo much money on them and using it elsewhere where funds are more useful
