Because the standard of beauty isn't
always the rarity.
Look at what's always pushed forward as the standard of Black
male beauty - dark skinned chocolate men who look like Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs. And more recently Michael B Jordan - who gives you very much cute Black boy next door, and was recently named "Sexiest Man Alive" by People Magazine.
Only thing arguably rare about them would be how handsome they are, but there are plenty of men walking around who look like them. Who have the same skin tone, same hair, same features.
Their look is very common, and yet people DO care. So there goes your theory on that. lol
