but that is a problem is it not? most niggas should NOT be only wanting light skin women
so pushing that narrative further is making things worse  :dead: :dead: :dead:
That's not her fault.  I'm not here for the double standard.  Light skin people should be ashamed and be less vocal if they think they're attractive because some ignorant mufuckas have put them on some pedestal? They don't get to make songs about feeling pretty and being desired because people in the world are idiots? That's stupid and fixes nothing.  My parents have light skinned and dark skinned children.  Should theyhave told my brother and sister to be more understated and less confident in who they are because some people automatically think you're attractive because of your complexion? It makes no fckn sense.  The price for uplifting darker skinned black people shouldn't be downplaying light skinned mufuckas.   :dead:
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

I dont care, but in the context of the discussion there clearly an issue with how light skin is perceived as more beautiful especially in our community
aren't you a Kelly stan?

RIGHT! I can't police someone's fckn preferences and I'm not going to :plzstop:
There are beautiful dark skinned women that find men each and every single day.

who said all that though? there's plenty of light skin women who made songs about being beautiful and celebrate their beauty but not because they are light. Beyonce made Flawless AND Brown Skin Girl EVERY girl can relate. Keri Hilson made Pretty Girl Rock. Like there's a way to do it. Even if parents told their light skin children to be understated the world would still gas their head up anyway we already clearly see what accepted as beauty and whats not

It's just a super sensitive topic in the community

I think it's easy for us to label people as insecure or even jealous , etc . But the reality is we live in a very anti black world

Of course certain things will hit differently . These are human beings with feelings .

I can't do anything but understand if someone Who looks like Normani is telling me her plight as a darker skinned black woman.

I shut my mouth and listen.

And representation is another issue . So often we see Black men who look like Young Thug screaming ignorance from the mountaintops .

Like , if ur saying Normani is ugly and Azealia is a monkey you're dragging a lot of women in ur own family too. Most of us have A Normani and Azaelia posted up in our families . It's weird and sad

But I get where it comes from .
Parson Dahl has made his debut.

The way to do it is apparently don't mention ur light skinned. We can make songs like Brown skin girl or coffee and they are AMAZING tho. It's a double standard and I don't agree. Idgaf about a bitch thinking she's light, bright, and beautiful. As long as she aint in the song saying dark bitches are ugly than idgaf. Love the skin ur in. This fucked up world aint on her or any other lighter complected person shoulders and I'm not gon make the problems of the world her fault for sumn she can't control.

right, and with all these dark skin women go through, here this girl (who isnt even African American) saying that
"Men like me because Im light skinned!" first of all DUH, thats like saying the sky is Blue
and second its like almost taunting the Dark women who the men often put down or look over

no the way to do it is dont FOCUS on your light skin
plenty women mention their light skin
but still it isnt the reason they're beautiful or why men want them

at first I was a lil lenient cuz I thought she was just a naive mixed / light skin black girl

But she's not even black doing that mess

Fnfnfnffn girl just stick to doing the salsa or something . Problem solved for her

Nobody got mad when Ciara sang "light skin thick chicks, fellas call em redbones"
because it was just 1 line in the song "Oh" not hey guys "Im light skinned so all the men want me!"

Vonc2002

That's not the same thing but I digress.  I really don't care about this and don't really have an issue with it.  Her not being black is the only Ehhhhh thing

yes i am. and as someone who stans the darker gors in general, other peoples' preference id of no concern to me. furthermore, preference and the perception of light skin being more beautiful has nothing to do with the subject being discussed at hand. the issue is this girl appropriating black culture.
