i think a lot of sides of my family have the "oh yeah we have Indian down the line " Tea. I think if ur Black you've probably heard that sometime in ur life from SOMEONE in ur family. I'd dare to say that it's almost part of our culture somehow cnnfnfnfnfnfnf
but my grandfather is the only grandparent I have that has a family line that was verifiable with that. Like I actually have her (his grandmothers) picture , the records, etc. and it wasn't hard for me to find. So if there's native heritage that is close enough u can find it somehow.
and let's not get it twisted . white people do it too. A LOT. It's not just Black people . We only see blk people doing it cuz we are black
but this white man literally sat for an HOUR explaining why he couldn't find evidence of his alleged native heritage . Referencing clothes/headbands his ancestors wore and mess as proof ndnfnfnf
People make it a "self hate" thing but I honestly think people , whether black or white, fall in love with the way natives are portrayed . The Pocahontas effect. "The Land! Spirit ! We are one with the earth "
Meanwhile full bloooded native Americans today are somewhere living in poverty and dying of alcoholism and depression.
