I'd put focus on building relationships across the organization so my good work can be seen by leadership (not just my boss) and so people can get to know me as a person.

If you're trying to stop getting more work because you think you're being treated unfairly...make a list of all your current responsibilities, take them to your boss, and start a discussion about how your current workload is unmanageable. Then ask if they're open to taking certain tasks off your plate and spread across the team.

I'm a lecturer at a university and I'm teaching 30 hours per week. While my colleagues are teaching 12-16 hours per week for the exact same money. I just found out the other day and I am fucking pissed and kinda ready to go nuclear on them.

My boss is talking about how I am a good worker and hinting I am more competent and better look for the company contracted by the university than my colleagues.

I don't want to hear it and am ready to push back.

The head of department is sounding supportive and trying to calm me down but the problem is coming from upper management and the head of my department don't like rocking the boat at all.

If he can't fix this I will go straight to the source.
