So some of you don't think that the way you are raised, interests, social conditioning, exposure, values etc influence sexuality?
I honestly never thought sexuality could be influenced by outside sources.

From what I have read, studied and observed I can see how it can, makes sense.

The lead up to developing an understanding of sexuality and what that looks like, who its towards, how you express it etc is like many other aspects of development, where a child observes, mimics, understands and reacts.

I don't think things MAKE anyone anything, but I do think they influence.

There are so many common shared experiences/factors amongst gay men and women for it to be coincidental. I dunno.
So basically u feel like letting your child have a gay friend, letting him vogue in gym class, etc will influence his sexuality? Interesting

I'm just sharing thoughts on something I'm unsure about, def not stating anything as fact.

I can see how it can have an influence on a boy if he's raised in a hyper feminine environment, or where all expressions of sexuality is concentrated on men.

there is literature out there that looks as the whole biology of sexuality and then the psychology of it.

Its a interesting topic

Iono but I guess I'm pretty conventional in here. I just wouldn't want my son twirling and dropping because I do perceive it as gay dancing, imma just be real about it.  I don't think I would care as much about ballet because I do view that as a form of art. This is just gay foolery IMO and I know it may be ignorant but that's just what it is. I honestly don't really like when guys are overly effeminate in anything and this moreso speaks to that. People are allowed and definitely entitled to be who they wanna be I wouldn't be super close with an overly feminine guy and I wouldn't want my son doing EXCESSIVELY feminine dancing of this nature.

You've expressed this ideal inadvertently over the years when convo's like this pop up so I figured. I respect you being forthcoming and elaborate about it here tho.

So how do biases like this help with being open-minded?  :ohwow:

Wait, Glock u think because he dances this way he's destined to be gay?
nbzbx
Yeah I feel as though this is kinda shoving him into the gay direction .. May sound stupid but I equate this with someone being fondled with by a man when they are a child .. No choice
I know it sounds extreme but I feel as though this guides him towards being gay rather than living life and figuring it out
See I gotta leave u hanging here.

I'm not insecure tho :dead:
Had this been ballet or cheerleading .. Something like that.. I'd understand ur sentiments Yumz
But this is about a young child doing vogueing ..
Something that derives from gay underground ballroom MESS..
does that make it any less of an art form than jazz, contemporary dance, or classical music? A lot of culture is derived from underground GAY culture. what in the ignorance is bliss fUCK?

Cartierline

ffffff yeah I think y'all wouldn't have a problem with this if voguing wasn't seen as a gay thing.

What's wrong with gay men being effeminate? If it's who they are, it's who they are. No one complains when straight men assert their dominance over others like the common-thinking tyrants they're known to be.
I never said anything was wrong with it, the opposite actually. I said people are entitled to be who they want and have EVERY right. We just ain't gon be fckn friends, period :dead:
Obviously people are free to be who they want to be. And you're allowed to dislike or like someone for whatever reason. Would you treat them differently than other people tho? That's what I'd like to get at. Cause if so, be prepared to face the backlash like the many other oppressors of certain groups have before you :ohwow:
