Well, I didn't like the celebratory comments on the first page. This is not the first time a gay man has come out as positive and the comments have been positive no pun intended.

If I'm being honest, stuff like this puts me off of the gay community. It's one thing for people to have an opinion about you, it's another for them to have credence.

I don't know why people are still stuck in the 1980s mindset when it comes to HIV
Do you know how he got it?
People get diagnosed with it everyday and it's people who you wouldn't think are in that risk group.
From a sexual health POV most of the HIV diagnosis I saw were from people who thought they were in a monogamous relationships or slept with someone who's tests results didn't detect HIV because they tested too early not everyone who is positive is some reckless faggot who who goes to sex parties every weekend

I think it's more about taking away the stigma of HIV by openly sharing status, etc 

but I do wonder if it's just a bit counterproductive to make it such a grand announcement and reveal 

Because that in itself kinda lends to the idea of it being a "big deal" as opposed to taking that "event" feeling away from it 

I can't help but think that there's a yearning for publicity behind these announcements sometimes . Kinda like when people "came out" to announce they have COVID . These long dramatic essays typed as they're still fully functional, breathing and not hospitalized ... and posted to social media
