but I do wonder if it's just a bit counterproductive to make it such a grand announcement and reveal

I can't help but think that there's a yearning for publicity behind these announcements sometimes . Kinda like when people "came out" to announce they have COVID . These long dramatic essays typed as they're still fully functional, breathing and not hospitalized ... and posted to social media

There's still a stigma attached to HIV so it's not a huge stretch to say someone is "brave" for publicly disclosing
