Are you aware of the artist Tori Alamaze claiming she was originally offered Take Control?
Amerie: Yeah, that story is really, really weird. I co-wrote that record with Cee-lo and when that record came, Tori was the reference singer. When I was approached for the record I was like 'sure [I'll record the song] but with some changes to the track like I'll write a hook and ill write a proper bridge and bring out my horn players'.

So to clarify it was never supposed to be her song?
Amerie: No, not at all! Cee-lo created that record with the purpose to get me to do the record and off course he wasn't going to sing on it so I guess he got her to sing on it. I went in made some changes but I thought it was really weird and I actually think that was pretty wack too (pause) really wack on her part
