Her backstory makes this song even more powerful.
She got out of an abusive relationship :stressed:

She meant and felt every word ugh
I hated the performance but this touched me. Her first perf was better
She slayed ready for love too

She is truly something special :stressed: :stressed: :stressed:
like im just HERE; DROWNING in a pool of tears
her Soul is so evident and visible when she sings.
Its beautiful to see
She is a testament that you can make it through to the other side
and although just listening to the other performance; vocally it was more clean.
but when you can FEEL what someone is singing and they just open themselves up and allow their voice to embody the message of the song; THATS Magic ..thats God
No More Drama performance was everything and more.
J Lo could barely speak.
f
Yea, didn't like it. McKenzie should win tbh
:uhh:
no shade bby but the judges CLEARLY preferred the No Drama. They know she has a special gift.
They could barely speak. She filled the room with her spirit and gift.
Shes special. If she doesnt win Imma fuck somebody up

Sorry but those chopped n screwed ass runs don't do it for me. I like her a lil bit but she's just not the best imo
its like she ALMOST pulls me in
then she does too much & messes it up
I kinda felt the end of No More Drama & the beginning of Ready
She has star power. Reminds me of when Fantasia was on AI and people were moved by her performances and story. This girl has that IT factor. Even if she doesn't win, labels, producers and writers will be knocking her door. Mark my words. I mean, she's probably getting offers as we speak. And being a good singer/performer isn't always about hitting the right notes :kii: She will be good. Notice how someone is always crying on that panel when sis is up on stage? There are very few singers who can do that tbqfh.
Im glad I can see what the judges; kelly clarkson and countless other celebs have said: SHE IS THE STAR.
She is special.
How you can put these other dry ass karaoke singers above her is beyond me.
Laporsha literally sings from her soul and unless you operate off yours; you wont get it I guess.
McKenzie is definitely dope and deserves to be runner up; ill say that. And I could see him having a lucrative career.
But he doesnt touch Laporsha. And you can ask ANY famous person and theyll say the same thing.
The judges critiques are the proof. they can NEVER say anythign against her; because they know what shes doing is divine.
And honestly the best female singer is SONIKA, this bitch voice is fckn ANGELIC! If she was just a bit more seasoned on stage Her>>>>>>>>

Right and I don't know Ray was trying to shade J Lo's lil vocals like that's why she's a judge on the show J lo and Keith Urban are judges because of their success in the industry. Both been in the game for so long and are praising Laporsha. I mean, Kelly Clarkson nearly jumped the fuck off the her seat :kii: this girl is IT :kii: sloppy! messy vocal! fags plea'
the kii is half of yawl probably dont watch the show
the judges and crowd reactions alone SHOW that Laporsha is THE ONE to watch on the show
The other kids are cute tho
lol; but music is more than pitch perfectness and TRYING to be dope
Laporsha LETS GO and is a vessel. She lets the music and her gift control her.
THATS the difference.
I mean we can even ask Ghan LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Shes already posted on the girl not these other chirren lolz :letsmessfag:

Right and I don't know Ray was trying to shade J Lo's lil vocals like that's why she's a judge on the show J lo and Keith Urban are judges because of their success in the industry. Both been in the game for so long and are praising Laporsha. I mean, Kelly Clarkson nearly jumped the fuck off the her seat :kii: this girl is IT :kii: sloppy! messy vocal! fags plea'

Not everything is about being in the right placement. I mean, that can be so boring, IMO. That's what makes a great performance a lot times - It's unpredictable and emotional. That feeling of being a part of something special, etc. For instance, MJB may sound like a fool to A LOT of people but a lot of others are moved by her performances because she's emoting her soul owt. I get that from Laporsha. She's a bit unpolished but that's why viewers relate with her and I think if she did clean up a bit she will go far.

That's not what great placement is lol if you have a great EAR, you can be in the moment and do all of that
without thinking. All my faves do just that lmao
Having an ear for placement doesn't make you calculated, it makes you a great fucking singer and a smart singer at that. Let's clear that up right now

The judges know their stuff but it comes to preference at this point. If they're willing to overlook certain sloppy placement of Adlibs/Vibrato and things, then that's their prerogative :dead: doesn't mean we will
s
Not everything is about being in the right placement. I mean, that can be so boring, IMO. That's what makes a great performance a lot times - It's unpredictable and emotional. That feeling of being a part of something special, etc. For instance, MJB may sound like a fool to A LOT of people but a lot of others are moved by her performances because she's emoting her soul owt. I get that from Laporsha. She's a bit unpolished but that's why viewers relate with her and I think if she did clean up a bit she will go far.

u know there are singers who do that and still manage to stay in the pocket right? when u have an ear for music u make wise choices. I like Fantasia and she is a girl that does wild stuff on stage but its where it needs to be in the song. Nobody is asking the girl to be susan boyle or some shit, so extra :dead:

i totally get where you're coming from. But that's the thing .. I still don't feel her or believe her 100% of the time while singing. She simply hasn't moved me beyond a few moments here n there
By the way, great placement SHOULD be unpredictable. That's what makes it great :dead: I don't mean she should sound like a perfect robot at all. Keep the emotion in ur voice for sure, but at some point, u gotta pull it all the way together in terms of the arrangement. It usually seems like she has all of these different ideas but never quite arrange them all for it to make sense. That's the issue. I'm definitely not asking for perfect notes every time
i just dont see how u can say those words love after a performance like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l-Lpth8OAU
there was nothing forced or thought out about this
she simply felt the lyrics of the song and told HER story and her soul came out SWINGING on that stage
to the point where was crying.
theres other kids AINT doing it.
How r u not moved by someone who clearly went through hell and back and started damn near praising the lord after the performance? :plzstop:
She is giving pure humanity EACH and everytime she gets on the stage :supluv:

Laporsha is talented enough to give that one day as well. There's a reason she's on American idol. She is NOT a professional yet :dead: period. Right now, I'm just saying she's not all there

We can agree to disagree. There are singers who are calculated in their approach and there are others who aren't. It's two different types and they appeal to different people. Laporsha gives me soul artists vibes. I'm not an easily moved listener. Especially when it comes to female voices but I was moved and REELED in a bit by that "Diamonds" and "No More Drama" performances. The only thing that bothered me was that she starts off way too early. That's something I noticed but other then that I think she has potential. It will be different when she's on wax so I'm sure a lot of the opinions on here will be a lot of "Wait! queen" :plzstop: Watch
Yea but Id still buy a Candice cd before this girl. Candice sang her ass off and honestly, thats what i care MOST about. I actually bought Candice's cd and still listen to it daily tbfh. Laporsha can sing tho, so I dont want give the impression that I think otherwise but she definitely needs to tighten shit up.

oh I'm definitely not comparing her to Brandy or expecting her to be THAT. That's God given, not trained lol there isn't another one of those. Laporsha has her own gift and I've acknowledged that
Again, "placement" is about much more than runs fitting into certain spots. But enough about that ... I just want her arrangements to make SENSE
I don't care about everything being clean. She doesn't have an idea of how to arrange these songs that she completely switches up :dead: I respect that she has the right idea, and wants to make shit her own though. That's the sign of an artist

!!!!!
omg >>><<<
everything shouldnt be pre thought out "where should i stick this run?" "this would sound dope here!"
just LIVE in the moment and let your gift take OVER. Laporsha does that :dead:
boy
That's not what great placement is lol if you have a great EAR, you can be in the moment and do all of that without thinking. All my faves do just that lmao
Having an ear for placement doesn't make you calculated, it makes you a great fucking singer and a smart singer at that. Let's clear that up right now
sdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsdsd
THATS not even what i was saying though
Im saying I get that she can be a little cleaner but Id rather her let her gift shine at ALL times and me FEEL it over some dope run that makes me live a BIT
i mean theres just a difference and it touches two difference parts of the body.
Sure she doesnt have the ear of Ghan but that takes training.
What she has is undeniable though and its special and its something those other kids in the competition DONT have.
So id rather her do what shes doing now vice trying to focus on being bitch perfect and placing runs where others feel she should. Shes literally telling her life story damn near every week. Its so beautiful to see.
oh I'm definitely not comparing her to Brandy or expecting her to be THAT.
She's just starting out, so she'll be fine
OMG! Her arrangements was also something else I had an issue with, so weird. I thought Diamonds was weird tbfh. The arrangement couple with the EXTRA, just nah
wait 'vonc is really seriously mad :uhh: :plzstop: i'm crip walking on dawn's box home wtf

Whitney was "perfect" but would crack and fuck up just like anyone else, but NO one emoted better than her either. It's possible to give a bit of both
Me wanting Laporsha to have some a well structured arrangement doesn't mean I'm asking her to become some dry calculated vocalist that overthinks every note. That would be even worse

exactly, and tbh timing & placement can really elevate a performance
when you BUILD a song, your runs & everything are much more potent and emotive. Being sloppy & running all over the place is showy and distracts from the message, which is what Laporsha does

and i WISH the industry was like THAT again
What he said makes sense for artists who aren't on a national show like american idol with the chance to have a team behind them right out of the gate to develop them.
It's important to stand out when you're competing to be noticed...when you're not on a show like this...or you're taking a less traditional route....get some bloggers to drum up support, etc. be different , without trying to be different. ssss
which should come natural.
but AI has a built in audience and team for her. if anything raw talent is more appealing on a show like this than someone who seems to already know everything. people enjoy the journey they're witnessing, and the humble beginnings. which is why we hear their stories. instead of looking at Instagram posts of them with 10 filters on their cousin's yacht trying to give baller status teas for followers.

One day there will again be a place in mainstream music for black soul singers. I hope that day comes soon. She is special. It's not always about a perfect vocal or placement but how you made the audience feel.
because perfect vocals cant make ppl feel anything
and sloppy ones are breathtaking?
"Not always" neither equates to always nor never. Simply put, it means "sometimes." Things are rarely just black or white. When it comes to a live performance, I don't think it has to always be perfect in order to get the job done. A singer (IMO) should lose themselves in their performance and not overthink each and every note.

To be honest, I never read any of the comments in here before making my original post. And that's why I didn't quote anyone. I simply stated it based off viewing the video.
I agree that her arrangements aren't perfect and her runs and their placement are straight out of the Beyonc? book of runs circa 1999. She'll get where she needs to be in due time.

i think she can as well
she has the tools
I hope the niggers give her the win like they did with Fantasia and Candice. Im sick of these little white fags winning. And lets be honest it was the white people voting for Jordin Sparks too.
Yea, I don't quite use, but she does have something unique about her I guess.

This was pretty much a direct rip off of another contestant (David Cook?) who also copied the styling from the dude from Soundgarden.
