Basically, he wanTed Sonja out of the way. His label is a sham. He wants money off management, publishing and to double dip by working with Epic and trying to get her to sign with them. And I assume he bashed Brandy hostage career-wise for the last 3 years.

The deal she signed isn't the issue. It called for multiple albums, and adequate funding for each. The problem is he is refusing to pay for her projects unless she signs distribution through Epic. And what was said in the original reports, is that the Epic deal is a 360. Ray J said years ago that Brandy refuses to sign a 360 because she downs feel she needs to...and I agree.

He's trying to force her hand. And all the kiis about her needed to release and being mad at Bran are funny but she really can't do shit. He let her release B&P...because a simple cease and desist could have easily shit that down.

I just don't understand, if the deal was so criminal and slavery why was it agreed to? He couldn't go in and change anything that you had not agreed to. I think the courts probably dismissed it because honestly it looks like an artist who made a regretful decision and just wants out.

QuoteBrandy, who signed with Chameleon Entertainment in 2011, originally sued the label in Los Angeles Superior Court in March of this year. That lawsuit was dismissed earlier this month because Brandy?s recording contract with Chameleon contained a forum selection clause that specified all claims, disputes or agreements would be resolved through New York state or federal courts.

Well that's good to hear.

I wish her luck with this.

I just don't understand, if the deal was so criminal and slavery why was it agreed to? He couldn't go in and change anything that you had not agreed to. I think the courts probably dismissed it because honestly it looks like an artist who made a regretful decision and just wants out.

But she agreed to it. :stressed: A contract is powerful

The courts dismissed it on the grounds of a venue clause. Are any of y'all actually reading the documents and articles?

!

All these years of experience to end up here smh

That's what happens when you don't believe in yourself.
Brandy was signing a deal at a time she felt that she wasn't "needed" or "worthy".
It's a shame.

It's so weird

He's not living up to his half of the deal. He didn't put forth the funds he was suppose to. No where in the original contract does it say he has the right to FORCE her into another deal.

That's the prob

That's not the problem
The problem was the deal that was proposed after the imprint deal was done..
Once chameleon got dropped from RCA.. He got a deal through epic and wanted bran to do a 360 that would make sure they received money they put into the future projects back!

This is a slap on the wrist for 2/11s poor performance

Which was all RCA and Bryeonns fault

But she's quoted as stating that it is the contents of the original contract that are comparable to slavery.

It is slavery if she working that hard for half funded projects. A slave does a lot of work with little to no pay out. Unfortunately she wouldn't know the funds were inadequate until the ball was already rolling. The girl was on the road begging for a 3rd single that already charted.

I think the media and everyone else will spin it to whatever side they want. I think the fans at least have a responsibility to somewhat know what's going on to have her back.

I'm not here for lashing her for signing a good deal on paper. But I guess a "probably" preface means that there is more "probability" that people are just  talkin out their ass.

The same questions and assumptions are asked in these threads, when the answers have been posted time and time again. But kii!

Brandy, who signed with Chameleon Entertainment in 2011, originally sued the label in Los Angeles Superior Court in March of this year. That lawsuit was dismissed earlier this month because Brandy?s recording contract with Chameleon contained a forum selection clause that specified all claims, disputes or agreements would be resolved through New York state or federal courts.

Contracts are so crazy. NY only?

The suit further stipulates the defendants demanded that she relinquish rights to income from her concerts, acting roles, endorsements and other income-generating ventures in order to secure a 360 deal with Epic Records, where Prescott currently works as head of urban A&R -- which Brandy has refused to do.

THIS MESS was not apart of her original deal.
So they are withholding FUNDS from the original contract, to FORCE her into the 360 one.

That's what I get from it.

Did you read the article? It was dismissed because she HAS to file in NY, not LA. And her contract with Chameleon is not the issue, it's the fact that they are trying to force her to sign a deal with Epic, which they have no right to do in her contract with Chameleon so they are choosing to not fund her projects until she signs with them. Her contract with Chameleon states they would fund her album with or without a deal. She knew what she was doing wit the contract, she just happened to sign with a snake.

:omgwatshappening:
so concise
These are all things she should've known before Brandy signed, band Brandy lawyer
And if she knew, Brandy knew :dead:

Still confused as to why this is all happening :dead:

The deal she signed isn't the issue. It called for multiple albums, and adequate funding for each. The problem is he is refusing to pay for her projects unless she signs distribution through Epic. And what was said in the original reports, is that the Epic deal is a 360. Ray J said years ago that Brandy refuses to sign a 360 because she downs feel she needs to...and I agree.

He's trying to force her hand. And all the kiis about her needed to release and being mad at Bran are funny but she really can't do shit. He let her release B&P...because a simple cease and desist could have easily shit that down.

#prayforBrandy
#4real
!!!! but he did try and block the release of the official music video, which is why that took so long to film and come out. And also why she couldn't put it on her vevo page which could have assisted in maybe a better charting position

the amount of albums she agreed to do, is the issue. A 360 deal and all that was never and has never been agreed to, from my understanding. But since she's still technically under his umbrella, he's trying to force her to agree to the slavery deal with epic, now that he's head over one of their urban departments or whatever it is

!

All these years of experience to end up here smh

That's what happens when you don't believe in yourself.
Brandy was signing a deal at a time she felt that she wasn't "needed" or "worthy".
It's a shame.

"Oh, I have to think of myself as a brand new artist.  Work from the bottom up."  Mess...   ^o)

I'm here for Brandy, though. She'll push through.

yes! She's never stopped recording. It seems to others that she's given up on music but I don't understand why ssddd just yesterday I said it's actually quite the opposite. She was allegedly recording heavy even before the tour. I see the passion, even obviously being from afar

Well that's good to hear.

I wish her luck with this.

So it wasn't dismissed because she didn't have a case.
it was dismissed because he has to be handled by NYC Court.

I don't think Brandy went into this situation knowing she would be fucked over. She's too experienced for that and I think she should get the benefit of the doubt.

Even if she "should have known better" it doesn't mean she deserves to get screwed over. I don't know why her fans are so against her on this issue like you can't be compassionate towards your so called fave, even if she did screw up. You see she is hurting over this and you don't care because you are so angry about not having new music.

You guys talk so authoritatively about a business you know nothing about assuming you are smarter than a woman whose been doing it for 20+ years. What gives you the right to speak on what should have been done when you hold an entry level job- hush!

I mean she wants to release some music but they do not want to.
I mean BreyOFF aint respecting the damn contract JUST with this shit.

So you want to force Ghan to sign with Epic a 360 deal first... Then you want her to release music?!

She DOES NOT WANT A 360 deal. Whats hard to understand?

Fag, have a seat. You dont EVEN know if you're still gonna be the head of Urban A&R at Epic next year... You want her to sign a deal with the company you are working for... So the DAY you dont work at Epic anymore... Someone else will direct her career and stuff, but you'll still get money from her singin, acting and publishing shit?!

This!! and when facts are put in front of people they overlook them lol
I'm sure she didn't think she would be fucked over. especially after reading the billboard article and them stating terms of the contract..

The contract was set up so that she could still record and release music with or without a distribution deal and that Breyon was supposed to fund it.
But Breyon is trying to FORCE her to sign a shitty distribution deal now instead.
That's the fucked up part SMH and That's not Brandy's fault... Pretty much if he would have cooperated in funding this current project it would have more than likely been out by now..

Artists sign contracts for multiple albums everyday. Nowhere in that contract does it say the label can hold you hostage. The Chameleon contract was very beneficial to Brandy because they are required to put out her music whether or not they secure a distribution deal.

Brandy ain't make no mistake. It's obvious that some of y'all don't even like Brandy. Smh.

Brandy is taking the necessary steps to ensure that Breyon can't come back later and try to nullify and new record label deals she has. If she gets the official release from the courts, she can sign with whoever she wants. This is not just about her getting money from Chameleoon.
Title: Re: Sonja better read BreyOFF
Post by: Mrd0ndada on July 23, 2016, 02:28:06 PM
Yeah it's pretty clear to me... The contract was perfect when he had distribution thru RCA.  His label got dropped from RCA at the same time he got a position at Epic so he naturally wants Brandy to sign to Epic but with new conditions that she doesn't want to agree to... So he's holding up the process of any music being release until she signs the deal... He's basically tying her hands & forcing her into a deal.   NOT FAIR!   He's supposed to fund her projects with or without distribution.. If he doesn't have distribution he'd have to solely fund her album thru Chameleon ent. And I'm sure he doesn't want to use his own money he'd rather use Epic's money but she ain't tryna sign under the new conditions of the 360

GORL FUCK U.

OMMFFF go AWF  :plzstop:

Yes, but I don't want no fuckin BLUES. Is she serious?

"B&P" was nice, but I don't need an album full of that.

I just wanted her to go AWF one good time.

What's wrong with old school and bluesy? Y'all want KNOCK!?? Is that all y'all know?

Brandy is a SANGER! Not some bubblegum shit like Britney Spears, Katy Perry and etc.

Um, who said anything about knock & bubble gum? :uhh:

Y'all need to stop with this bullshit. Just because some members here don't agree with every single
move she makes doesn't mean they don't like her. Y'all are so fuckin annoying with this mess.

Oh, you feel some type of way? Poor you.

For fans to bash her when there are court documents AND an article that dumbs down the situation, contract, and case....and don't take the time to COMPREHEND what's going on, but continue to insult her intelligence and complain about it "being obvious that she doesn't want to do music anymore"....please.

It's funny in all that was said in my comment about the CASE...you know the whole basis for this thread....all you did was highlight that. That speaks volumes. Y'all (you and your lot) need to stop with the ignorance.

This thread really shows the lack of comprehension most people have lol?

Brandy did nothing wrong.  Breon is not upholding his end of the contract according to the article. He's withholding funding for her next project until she signs what is a bad deal with Epic. It's clearly stated in the article.

I was caught up in trying to determine what I want Ghan's next album to sound like and then I finally realized I need to stop  :dead:

Like, my kneejerk reaction is that I don't want a blues album from her, but it's Brandy, she always brings something different to her projects. I never would've come up with Full Moon or Afrodisiac sonically for her in my own mind, so I have faith that she'll create something good. TBH B&P is lower on the list of my favorite songs, but I'm sure that when she finally comes out with an album it'll be an ecelctic mix of sounds and something for everyone. We just all want those classic Brandy elements that we love to shine through in her work (tone, runs, harmonies, etc.)

Honestly it's probably good that she's taking this project in a different direction. The inudstry is so oversaturated with Brandy-influenced songs that if she came back with that it might not make as much of an impact. Like, that new Kehlani song I really like, but it's so blatantly Brandy that I just can't get in. It's amazing when you think about it really. She has truly had a major hand in shaping the current sonic landscape of pop/r&b. Got everyone using autotune trying to get a smooth vocal, stacking/layering, trying to give a harmony mess. She is LEGEND.
