who ALWAYS complain about their weight but NEVER want to take the necessary steps to change it?
I have a friend who is always complaining about her weight. But when I ask if she wants to go workout with me or when I try to make suggestions on healthier eating she stops responding.
Last week she sent me a picture of some ox tail soup she made :x

A lot of heavyset cases are purely medical and regardless if someone adheres to working out and eating protein and greens a lot of internal factors may be keeping the weight on them. Unless you're a doctor who understands what's going on inside their body, I do think it's unfair to judge

That's wild AF but I have this older cousin like 45 who had gastric bypass like 8 years ago she kept the weight off and she looked great. I think she got down to like 145 which was her ideal weight. But I saw her last year at a Christmas party and she is wider than before her surge. She said that the doctors told her that because of her excessive eating she has stretched her stomach out to a similar size pre-surge.

I really don't care about her size to be honest. I honestly want her to feel good about herself. She's ALWAYS downing herself. About a month ago, I sent a group text to about 3 of our friends and we all agreed to talk to her. She received the "intervention" well.
But a lot of her self-esteem issues comes from guys. Particularly, my cousin. She had a huge crush on him in high school and he really tore her down. I didn't believe it until I saw him fat shaming one of our other cousins and I didn't like that.

But that's the thing though. If you maintain a decent diet and exercise from time to time you WILL get results even if you have some kind of medical issue that's causing weight gain (thyroid issues etc.) Hell even if you don't exercise you'll still lose weight.

If a person can become paralyzed after a car wreck and go through rehabilitation to learn to walk again then surely someone that's obese can shed a few pounds.

Well, a lot of people turn to food as a coping mechanism to deal with stress, challenges in life, etc. Then there are some people who can't help with their weight because it could be a thyroid issue or something else medical wise. All I can say is to be supportive and not put them down. Motivate them in a nice way not while having a holier than thou attitude towards it. Because a lot of people with weight issues whether it's struggling with losing weight or gaining weight need support, not to be constantly belittled or reminded of their weight because who knows they could be trying but it's ha struggle for them. Trust me I used to be a fat kid and struggled with my weight but now due to a thyroid issue, my weight fluctuates constantly. So I understand what it's like to have weight issues.
