I received your PM and acknowledge your apology, but I have to be honest. I no longer see you as a genuine person.
Your "mess" wasn't limited to last night. It also included the "fuck ancestry" thread, which was clearly an invitation for the I Loathe Afro foundation to come in and get their jabs (which they surprisingly took advantage of).
I didn't complain, because people will do what they wish. It is up to me to entertain it or let it be. Period. I don't pay your internet bill, nor do I control your keyboard. However, it is well within my right to accept or be cautious of an apology. I'm choosing to be cautious.

As far as Iman is concerned, I noticed she became upset with me when I began posting about my Native American heritage. Not my heritage as a whole. I've been researching Ethiopians, and I discovered that they are very proud people, deeply rooted in their African heritage. And they take it very seriously. Iman is Ethiopian.
This explained why Iman suddenly became agitated with me. (Which originally confused me because up until that point, she was on board with Ancestry and was even saying that I inspired her and she wanted to do one of her own). Her frustration came from the fact that I was discussing my Native heritage, when clearly my African heritage is a majority of my ethnic makeup. And she felt as if I was looking over my Ethiopian heritage as well, and SKIPPING straight to Native American.
Once I figured out where her frustration came from, I reached out to her and let her know that the only reason I was talking about my Native heritage first was due to the fact that I immediately connected it with my great grandmother, successfully -- by narrowing down the tribe through my DNA. And I was excited. Yes, my Native heritage is smaller, way smaller, but it is amazing to find out my great grandmother Chief, who I've heard so much about but never got to meet due to her passing, is still somewhere in me, as well as her heritage.
But as you can see, there's not a Native American in my avatar. Because I don't LOOK like them, nor do I identify with them. There is an African Ethiopian man perched . Iman understood. And we moved on.
To make an exhaustingly long story short, the difference here is that I was able to at least pinpoint where frustration may have come from. And it made logical sense. The case wasn't the same here.

I get why ancestry would be important to someone but it's kinda hard to take this newfound pride in heritage (or just the idea of being mixed) from people who were totally dismissive to the anger behind the protests that went on earlier this year or someone leaping for a joy over a white person being polite to them. And everything doesn't really need to be drilled into the fucking ground with one thread after the other about the same thing but I get some people are more expressive than others.

I don't think there's any timeline to someone realizing or learning. It's just weird to see someone be so dismissive of one aspect of their own culture and then obsess over another.

It's confusing to me, how the same people who will condemn others for not being aware enough, will then equally condemn them for being too aware too soon. At some point it just begins to seem as if they enjoy projecting the condemnation itself.

Because I was just at work telling all of my coworkers about my African heritage. And pretty much anyone who will listen, who is of the same color as I am. In hopes to inspire them to do the same. Since I feel we have robbed of our identity for so long.

There's no hard feelings, on my end at least.

But Yumz, I'll just leave you with that question. I don't want to argue with you, because I see it going there. Just be aware that questioning someone's motives behind something of such a positive nature (as pride in Africa, being black, etc.), comes off in not such a nice light. That is all.
oh my god :dead:

I never got that from Afro. Even with the hair discussions ;fff I think he wanted to know about his roots which is a good thing. He has inspired a lot of people on here to do the same. And honestly he influenced a couple of the people on here who I thought were self-haters to be more prideful of their blackness, IMO. Just my observation.
I appreciate the love. And I have been making a conscious effort to use my people skills for the better. When people see you as a leader I've realized that should be taken seriously. Influence, regardless of its level of potency, is something to be careful with. So it's amazing to see that my efforts are noticed. Because they come from a genuine place.

What you guys think of how I feel or how I should about Iman, and vice versa, is of such little significance to me. I am very good at feeling a person out, even through the internet. I reached out to her to make amends because I know her heart. Some people are irreversibly miserable, and truly have hatred in their heart for you, she is indeed not one of them.

But in any case, I'm done with explanations for the night. I've already given more than I have to -- regarding the reasoning behind my "suspicious black pride", and my perceptions of and relationships with people. I keep forgetting the operative word in all of this -- my. As in, I own it all.
Time for me to move onto another thread. Something a bit more light hearted. :dead:

And the ancestry thread was one of the few times I got involved with the race wars that you started. I genuinely don't understand why ancestry is so important to people lately. If you thought it was an attack, I'll let you know, it wasn't.
I get why ancestry would be important to someone but it's kinda hard to take this newfound pride in heritage (or just the idea of being mixed) from people who were totally dismissive to the anger behind the protests that went on earlier this year or someone leaping for a joy over a white person being polite to them. And everything doesn't really need to be drilled into the fucking ground with thread after thread but I get some people are more expressive than others.

Just saw this post.
So glad I could inspire you, my love.
And I'm happy it's yielding results for you. This is amazing, thank you for sharing. I appreciate it.
There really is an inner peace that comes with walking in your truth, and accepting it.
Once you've truly found it, you don't want anyone to disturb it. You don't allow them to.
You've just inspired me as well just with your words.

:kii: No, hun. I just read where I see fit.
why? :ohwow:
because Bent was tryna get messy after Af and I came to an agreement
or at least a form of an agreement :dead: he was late and got what was coming
i mean, if u don't like bent and afro, why even acknowledge them? its people in this world who can't even access the internet and here we are wasting time on it posting about some irrelevant shit that we have no passion for. i mean are you passionate about reading the girls? is that what you used to dream about doing when you were a child?
I never said I didn't like Afro tho and I haven't been aiming LETHAL darts at him. I was just being playful, but it's fine if he wants to interpret it as being disingenuous.
Why are you acting new like this is the first time the gorls have started reading on here? :dead:
i think that's my issue... its nothing new. don't you get tired of reading? don't you ever feel like doing something else with your life?
Yes, I do and that's when I log off. :uhh:

I see what Cinnabun is saying. It does get tiresome after a while. But everyone has their own stopping point. I won't sit and judge anyone for doing them. If they're coming at me for whatever reason, now all I do is simply ignore them. No need for subtle shade, or threads, or back and forth. If they feel a need to read me, who am I to stop them. But I don't have to sit and entertain it for hours.
I control what I can...which is my own space and actions.

i mean, if u don't like bent and afro, why even acknowledge them? its people in this world who can't even access the internet and here we are wasting time on it posting about some irrelevant shit that we have no passion for. i mean are you passionate about reading the girls? is that what you used to dream about doing when you were a child?
I never said I didn't like Afro tho and I haven't been aiming LETHAL darts at him. I was just being playful, but it's fine if he wants to interpret it as being disingenuous.
Why are you acting new like this is the first time the gorls have started reading on here? :dead:

Oh please
Talisa is no different from you or any other Faggot that gets on a scuffle on bsource. Especially the ones in this thread.
The only reason why she stands out is because she's pretty much a complete mystery and doesn't share her personal life on here. So she's created this image for herself as a ' ghastly ghoul' (ddssssss)
You guys kill me after you stop getting into a little mess for 5 minutes like suddenly you've found the meaning of life and bsource mess is beneath the earth.
Although your entire point and stance in this thread was mess in itself. Covering it with concern doesn't fool anyone.
Pretty sad.
Funny how one will mention "ass kissing", when I am no longer an admin here. Or even a moderator. That was the general consensus before, I remember. People liked Afro, or followed or was inspired by him, because he could ban them. I no longer hold those powers, by my own choice. But there are certain powers which I believe are not delegated through a message board; they are innate.
And it's important I use them for good. I just received an unexpected, beautiful PM from a member on here (whose name I will withhold since they clearly wanted privacy). It's things like this that make every bruise on my back worth the while. You can throw as many stones as you wish. But I will not stop loving you, or turning the other cheek. But I refuse to dignify disrespect with a response.
I think too highly of myself to give anyone the opportunity to enter my space, and you guys should feel the same as well. Build a fucking electric fence around your positive space. It's not full proof, there are some who will still manage, through all of their zealous efforts, to step foot into it. But know how to push them back out. Don't invite them in for tea. Their goal is to hurt you, and to damage you. Because sometimes, they are damaged themselves. In fact, many of us are damaged in some way. We all have stories. But know that your healing will not begin until you stop hurting others.
I will not judge those who have not arrived at this point yet. But if I show you love, at least try to return it. Isn't that the least you can do? Love you all, and I mean that.

Marg, I don't want you to feel as if I overlooked your apology to me a few pages back. I did acknowledge it. However, on the next page, to see you instantly revert to the same behavior, referring to the same "passive aggressive" behavior you accused me of days ago.....it gave me pause. I felt as if the apology was insincere. It took nothing but ten minutes for you to return to referencing me in a negative manner.
Additionally, I want to say this: being passive aggressive requires some sort of response or action to what one is being passive aggressive about. Ignoring someone is not being passive. It's choosing not to dignify their jabs and punches that they throw your way with some sort of response. It's choosing not to retaliate, whether it be in a subtle manner or not.
Yummy clearly referenced me many times in here, but chose to use "they", or "the gorls", or "them" instead of my name. That is an example of passive aggressiveness. Which I found odd because he's usually captain of the anti-passive ship.
And this is an example of me being direct.

I'll never judge anyone for being messy. Not everyone will have their cutoff point at the same time. I love my BSource bvys, unconditionally. Which is why I log in on a regular basis. And I still have my fun. No one's above anyone here. We all have our individual trials, challenges and triumphs in life. But if mess is brought my way I simply can't get too deep into it now. For the sake of my own personal space. And that's a personal decision, it really has so little do to with BSource, even though the change is apparent here.

I was specifically addressing garlic
The "??? MESS? ARGUING WITH STRANGERS?? PREPOSTEROUS! :o" tone was late.
Even though you've been taking the 'higher road' lately, you don't deny that you have/will getting into mess when necessary. And I think that's fine and admirable.
But targeting Talisa specifically, all while in the same thread they were trying to attack her like for not much reason, is the same shit he was just spewing.
"WHY ADDRESS STRANGER?? O_o"

Yeah. Why?
Moral is: get over yourself.
I see. You know I love you all so I'm going to plead the fifth on this one.
And thank you. I'm glad you understand me preme. The last thing I want to do is come off as condescending. How can you reach out to others or genuinely affect them in a positive manner if you're looking down on them, as opposed to reaching out? Or at least moving toward some sort of resolution, when necessary. Or simply setting an example. Actions speak so much louder than words.
Love you. foine african self

The "change" people are seeing here in me is simply a reflection of how I am in my everyday life. I am not a combative person, or one who takes delight in others' sorrow and pain. If this isn't me offline, why should it be me online.
As I said to someone who I spoke with via PMs this morning, there was a reason for me separating myself from "Ken Dahl" and "Afro the BSource administrator". It's about getting back to Herbert. And making sure my foundation is strong before I add any flooring to my house.
This is why you guys have seen me interested in ancestry. This is why you see me in pictures with my real hair, and not a wig. This is why you see an abbreviation of my real name as my username on here. It's an effort to form consistency in my life.
Many wonder where the sudden change came from, but if you really look at the events and decisions I've made from the end of the last year until now, it's anything but sudden. And I am still working on it. Because there are moments in which I feel I could do things a little better. But I am proud of myself, nonetheless.
I am happy that my journey has inspired others. And I never want anyone here to feel like I am separating myself from you guys. I am still here, faithfully, every day. It's just that I've chosen to conduct myself in a different manner, not for the show of it, but for personal reasons.
But you will never find me going from thread to thread and dictating how others should behave. And if you need me, just reach out to me, I've actually had some wonderful conversations with 3 members throughout the morning via PMs.
I was happy to be able to share my insecurities, triumphs and experiences with them, as they did with me. Its needless to reiterate how much I love you all. But I will say it again, over and over. I love you unconditionally.
I'm not referring to you, if it seems they way.

I do agree that change is great though.

She definitely comes and books me when it comes to things about myself.
But the self discovery is something that came from within. I made it my own business to watch documentaries on slavery, institutional racism. There was one session in particular which encouraged me to get back into school. My research reminded me of how important it is to educate yourself. And I felt very ignorant for many things I said in the past.
I even reached out to Yummy and thanked him for helping to enlighten me, for it was our many arguments and debates on BSource which forced me to delve deeper into the whole topic. So that's why I am surprised when he accuses me of a "suspicious" interest in black pride. This has been building for months.
I am very proud to be able to connect myself to a place in Africa. Being able to identify with and see people who look a lot like me, everything from their hair to their eyes, to their skin, to their eyebrows, it's an amazing feeling. I don't expect everyone to understand that. And as I stated before, I will not judge anyone who doesn't take an interest in genealogical research. It's one of those things where there's really no right or wrong.
Furthermore, I will never judge anyone who doesn't feel the same as I do, in general. On any topic. Because I will be the first one to admit that months ago, I was clearly ignorant and had no interest in researching slavery, black pride, or anything of the sort. So when people treat me as if I am simply portraying something and trying to erase my history, that's kind of offensive. It is a very serious accusation. Which is why I move to correct them.

reminds me of the first paragraph of an essay i wrote discussing some works of zora neale hurston...
QuoteBetween me and America ?there is ever an unasked question? How does it feel to be a problem (Du Bois 1)?? My identity as a black American man in the 21st century is jumbled in a systematic deceptive caldron of hopes, dreams, expectations and statistics. America, the land of the free and the brave, does not wish for me to succeed?because how could I succeed if I am restricted from learning how to do so from my Black fathers and mothers before me? In her autobiography, Dust Tracks On A Road, Zora Neale Hurston wrote, ?Research is formalized curiosity. It is poking and prying with a purpose. It is a seeking that he who wishes may know the cosmic secrets of the world and they that dwell therein? (Dust 174). The African American suffers from a paucity of culture at the hands of the tyrants they are taught to praise as leaders. These tyrant advocate a system that legislates the snatching of the African American culture, like candy taken from a child?s hands, and places it high on a mountain top, where it awaits only those who dare scale the dangerous peaks. The rewards and benisons of a semester of course work on Zora Neale Hurston have granted me the means not to have to scale that far up the slopes to discover more about my identity as an African American, because this is a culture Hurston has already uncovered, preserved and left for people like me to unravel from her
web of folklore. It is my purpose to poke and pry into Hurston's works to discover what practices have given the African American strength to survive bondage for hundreds of years. I would like to discover what makes my identity as an African American especially powerful.

And I still have my fun. No one's above anyone here. We all have our individual trials, challenges and triumphs in life. But if mess is brought my way I simply can't get too deep into it now. For the sake of my own personal space. And that's a personal decision, it really has so little do to with BSource, even though the change is apparent here.
oh no
I was specifically addressing garlic
The "???
j
Yeah. Why?
Moral is: get over yourself.
'preme plea' :kii: you know damn well she wasn't "targeted"
i'm screaming :kii:
targeted! attacked!

Oh plea. Nigeria is the largest and biggest economy in all of West Africa. We are in the OPEC hun. Our music and movie industry is massive. Abuja is giving you Miami realness.
I can admit Lagos and most cities in Nigeria are fairly dirty but we have a really huge diverse growing country and strong economy unlike POOthopia... dddd Starving selves.
I like you guys' food tho
:sobusyjetsetter:
Nigeria doesn't have the biggest economy in West Africa. Ghana has y'all beat :ohwow:
fjfjjj @ you mentioning music and movies. No one cares about that shit but other Nigerians. And even then South Africa has y'all beat in that department :kii: the artists who are from there and even international artists actually get plaques and have award shows fjjj
and yes, y'all got dirty cities and trust it's not a tourist attraction. Ethiopia tourism is booming actually. CNN did a write up on it :feelinmyself: Even our fashion industry is expanding
Sis PLEA
African movies and music is basically synonymous with NAIJA music and movies. We RUN Africa culturally. Ain't no Ethiopian mega star. Actually all the Ghanaians try to immigrate to Nigeria hoping for a better life luv.
Ugh love being part of the WOrld's biggest black nation.
Even the diaspora shitting, from Sade to Chiwetel all around slayage.
:feelinmyself: :feelinmyself:

no one's calling the Wiz Kid to perform on an American TV program :kii:
Again, Nigerians are the only ones who care about the shit you're talking about.
WHo are these ANCIENT sounding niggers.
Wizkid is on FIRE, touring the world, coming to Berlin next week and stuff. Working with Drake and them.

arent u more nigerian than ethiopian tho? :bvy:
The top hit in my DNA was Lemba, and 3 hits of Ethiopian, including Ethiopian Jew. Which I was able to connect to each other...half of the Lemba tribe stayed in Ethiopia, and they consider themselves Jewish.
I mean I'm not here to argue with part of Africa is "better", though. But I can understand how you and IMan have a much more deep connection than I do. And know much more to actually have this argument. lol.
ssss he's just trying to mess.
Ethiopia would be a better tourist spot instead of Nigeria. Ethiopia has the most world heritage sites in Africa. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_World_Heritage_Sites_in_Africa
I would also recommend Senegal too.

i remember wanting queen to cover this song.
ffjjj @ FB fans. I bet all you will see are NIGGERians. No one else cares tbh.
Sade is biracial and British. She doesn't claim y'all.
and btw, the artists I listed have performed on American TV to showcase our sound and culture, signed and released their music with major labels in America and France, recognized by Berkeley Music School and had our music studied at Havard for the diverse and unique chords and melodies. whew!
Only NIGGERians care about the shit you're talking about.
My day is fantastic
Why are you concerned about it anyway?
It's irrelevant, unless you have a passion for it. Don't you have some other shit to be passionate about? Lol

The writer in me lives for how you constructed and worded this. :dead:

Well what do you expect when the West African entertainment industry is run by Nigerians
They're ALL crooks!
And which Ghananians are moving to Nigeria for a better life?
What kinda oxymoron :uhh:
With all the ethnic tribe wars, religious unrest, factions fighting each other in Nigeria? Whilst Ghana has never had a political unrest or any kind of war whatsoever?
Are you crazy
Nigeria is known for 3 things
Fraud
Unrest
Bleaching creams
Afro if you want to tour west Africa, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone are the spots
Beautiful beaches and guerrateed safety
So is everybody good :wellheythere:
