I'm thinking about booking one in Palm Springs for Coachella in the next month or so. And I'm interested in any experiences on here?
Particularly with the host, the check-in/check-out process, etc.
I'm usually a hotel person, but with the people I'm going with, I think it would be fun to try this out.
And I'm not talking about a private room either. I want the whole property.
Thanks in advance!

So yeah, in conclusion, AirBnb is TRASH and I'd rather stay in a damn hotel
(http://i.imgur.com/hOqrAfd.gif)
But hotels too!
Not about to perch in some stranger's house
Not about to research them or do my own background check either
Not about to sanitize their apartment/house down because it doesn't fit my standard of cleanliness.
Not about to deal with whatever random mess could happen during my stay from a family emergency, pissed landlord, crazy neighbor or random friends and exes
Not about to use their refrigerator or food not knowing what they could've done to it or if they washed their hands before they touched any of it
Etc etc...

I?ve done quite a few. I?m actually doing one in LA in January
I?ve always had good experiences. Clean houses, friendly hosts, etc
Just make sure you read all the reviews

OMG! Thank you!
Can you tell me about check-in/check-out? Like do you meet the host at the house and get the keys? And does the host contact you at all during the stay? Do they pop up?
Are there rules they have beyond the usual that would be at a hotel?

Checkin/checkout depends on the host really and can vary. The house I had in NYC the host lived next door, met us there, and gave us the passcodes
In Atlanta the host gave us all information via text.
I?m not sure how the one in LA is going to work as I didn?t book it.
No pop ups in the homes I?ve stayed in and the hosts have been available if we had questions (we needed some extras towels in nyc and she brought them right over)
Rules differ by host also. But the common one is no parties.
I just can?t. I?d have to sleep with 1 eye open knowing they can just drop in at anytime. I watch too much ID to be in a strangers home.

Just leave it clean and mess when u leave so they can rate u well..

It may be weird but if the host is white I try to make sure there are reviews from blacks people before I book
Id honestly be more worried as a host than a renter
do i have to switch locks every few?
how do u know someone renting didnt make themselves a copy?

IDK. Social media is really what has created these concerns for me. You read so much stuff over the years. I think I remember seeing a tweet saying that hosts sometimes act funny when they know you're black or whatever.
But that could be totally false I suppose.

Cali tho .... amazing ... and with the right coin or pooling coin together (depending on the number of ppl) you can get the entire house for some BREATHTAKING properties, you'll feel like you own a beach mansion lol

The prices for hotels during weekend 1 of Coachella are absolutely insane! We're staying in Palm Springs for 4 nights before we head to LA. And it's already $400+/night at most hotels during Coachella Weekend 1 & 2.
We might as well just do an AirBNB mess, because IMO, it'll be worth the money. And the price is not too far off from the hotel. A lot of these properties are so beautiful.
This thread sold me on it! Thank you!

It really love it
Use it all the time
ACK!
Bae! I'm gonna copy/paste you the same things I asked Brandon then...
Can you tell me about check-in/check-out? Like do you meet the host at the house and get the keys? And does the host contact you at all during the stay? Do they pop up?
Are there rules they have beyond the usual that would be at a hotel?
No bby
I?ve done it several times and I?ve never met the host
They usually hide the key somewhere and give u instructions on where to find ha
No major rules..
The only bad experience I had was in Detroit
Yuck
But that was my dumb ass doing one in that shit city
Other than that it?s everything
I?ve done this at least 30 times
And the hosts have never contacted me other than the Detroit one
They don?t pay attention to u or care..
they want their money and leave you be..
They are use to any and everything so I wouldn?t be pressed about how many guest I have with me either..
They aren?t watching you..
Just leave it clean and mess when u leave so they can rate u well..
Bad ratings make it hard for u to get nice ones ...
Thank you, Bae!!!!
ACK!
Not 30 times! JJDJDFNnnnnnnnn See! This is what I need.
I kept imagining the host popping up and giving a Scream 3 mess while I'm sleep. And I just don't have the time. :kii:
And MESS at hiding the key. What kinda scavenger hunt?
VZBZBZNZNXNZNZN
bae..
This one was a scavenger MESS owt
Omf
JJJNMNNbbbbbBNNNnnnn
Not "To find the key, you must first dig 3 feet under the tree in the front yard.
Then, you will find another note for Step 2!"
NNNFNFNnnnnnnnn
ddddddddddddddd
I?m tryna find the Messs
It was a kii

I did one in Anaheim because there we like 10 of us going to Disneyland :dead: with a large group it makes a ton of sense and it?s cheaper than getting 3-4 hotel rooms or more
I was soooo against Air bnb at first until I saw how it?s truly ran
:looose2when:
The house was renovated and SUPER clean and I never ever met the owner. She literally gave us instructions through text and it slayed
Seamless process
ACK!

Thank you!

400 + Dollars for them lil ass rooms. Ch NO
I was SUPER against the idea but since my coin wasn?t on the line for that particular family trip, I went along with it and came away super impressed. Definitely doing it again

I haven?t done Airbnb...I just don?t trust it. Imagine arriving there and it?s a hot mess. When I went to Aruba I actually rented out a villa through some vacation house website. I?m sure it?s there in the US too. I think you should explore that option too.
