Been thinking about aging/mortality a lot lately. Ill be 30 soon and I was just reflecting on life and how it just ZOOMS the fuck by when you're young.
I also was thinking about goals and shit we are conditioned to feel like we should have at a certain age. Even the way we feel folks should behave at certain ages. Also, just aging in the gay community and the feels around that.
How yall feel about your own aging or walk through life currently? You think you're on the right track? Doing it gracefully? Nervous for the future?
Doesn't concern me
I thought I?d feel some kinda way when i was in my teens, but i like the idea of aging now in a lot of ways. Especially being black lmao!!
Buuuut when you mention aging in the gay community, it does become a bit more alarming i suppose. We know how that is :dead: i don?t really think about it though, and i most certainly don?t compare my progress to anyone else?s based on age and what society thinks we should be doing by our mid to late twenties.
Society says a lot of things and puts a lot of guidelines out there that i don?t plan on buying into
:udontlookok:
It?s a different time now. Imagine getting married in ur early twenties and having kids. Ew
I don't mind aging at all. It's nothing wrong with getting older. I don't look my age at all. I drink plenty of water and try to eat as heathly as possible.
I really appreciate your post king

Aging is something that really scares me, but it's more about becoming decrepit as one starts to approach 60-70 and beyond.
It's kind of funny to actually say it, but my secret hope is that one day scientists will come up with a youth serum mess that stops the body decaying and becoming old and grey.

I?m 33. Early 30?s are the ages that people in their 20?s think is officially old (until they turn 28) and people 45-50+ still say things like ?oh ur a baby.?
I?ve never felt a way about aging. I?d rather age than be dead. Aging can be scary in theory, when you try to imagine it, but when you?re in your body every second of the day, year after year...... as it happens you don?t really notice it. And the whole time you?re evolving mentally and find yourself saying ?damn I?m old? in response to certain things, and you laugh cuz it?s kinda of like a badge of honor ... you?re naturally just set in it and ok with it because you age without trying to. As you age, your perception of it changes. I think I saw Rig say he wouldn?t want to go back 6-7 years to when he was barely a 20-something. And as someone in his early 30?s I wouldn?t be pressed on being Rigs age. If anything, I would entertain the idea of going back and being able to make better/different decisions, but not for the sake of ?being younger.? The only way I can see it being traumatic is if you feel like after a certain age, you?re a failure because you haven?t done this or that.

Yes shit definitely got real at 28. I was like :guys: wait hol up :calmdownsis: is this really happening
I think I manage to keep a healthy balance of my mess and maturity. lol I don't think I'll ever NOT be that person always joking and giggling, but I also feel as if I'll never NOT be that guy not taking care of responsibilities and looking for new ways to advance in life.
Life is good. It's a blessing. One thing I really took from the whole genealogy/ancestry thing is...When you see so many people with their birth and death dates listed next to their names - it becomes quite real that your name will have the same mess next to it eventually. Kinda one of those realizations that are a bit too real, but quite humbling as well.
I ordered my kit yesterday btw :justabit:
I used to be afraid of aging because I don't many black gay men past the age of fifty and didn't see that far into my future as a reality. Not any suicidal mess, just some growing pains and a fear of what may or may not come. Around 25/26, I realized that I spent most of my adult life learning virtually everything about this "lifestyle" through experiences and the future won't be that much different. You live and you learn, you grow, you fall in and out of love etc;
I'll just take it one day at a time like I've been doing.

Very thought provoking
My thoughts are i do wonder whats going to become of me in my 40s and 50s
But health is my main focus at any age its really all you have untill you dont
I want kids by 34
I want a legacy to look back on
Age is really a number ur health body mind and spirit determine everything imo
And i feel the best the freest and the youngest i have ever felt
And i dont even feel i match my age
I felt old at 25
I look forward to it. Ready for my 20s to be over!
I was just thinking about how much damage I caused by only getting 5-6 hours of sleep and eating processed junk food all throughout my teens and 20's.
Thankfully I was never a drinker or a smoker, but still if I look hard enough I can see the signs that my black is starting to crack
:stressed:
I?m aging backwards.

That may change later but I plan on being healthy. I can?t waste or play with good health with life being so short.
Mentally, sadly most don?t see the value in youth right off. Hopefully around 28-32 you figure out you?ve got a good 15 years of prime if you take care of yourself. I hate to see 20-25 year olds talk about how hard life is or how they?re getting old. Girl if you don?t get it together and take life by the reigns :kii:

Spiritually, If you want to keep the mental and physical in check, you have to find it. You have to find that connection that grounds you here. At some point everybody is gonna wonder why they are here and what it?s all for. If you don?t have something fulfilling for that answer, things can go left. Start doing things you love and fulfill you. Securing a bag is overrated a bit
Youth is powerful but easily wasted and overrated. 30?s and 40?s, and even 50?s I think can be the best years. We live in a microwave, what?s hot now society. But It?s really the vourney that matters. Not saying I wanna stick around this shithole for 102 years, but if I do, I hope it?s continuous growth.
Turning 22 was HORRIBLE for me, but now aging doesn?t bother me like I keep thinking it would. :dead: I think part of it though is the culture of NYC; there?s no pressures or timelines. You chase your own goals and establish your own timelines. Just whatever makes you happy.
If I was still in Orlando, I?d probably be borrowing Brit?s clippers though. There?s more pressure on timelines from family n society. In a sense, I?d feel like I?m forced and rushed to ?grow up? and be more settle when Im not quite ready for that yet.. I think that?s where that aging fear stems from... at least for me.

Both can be rewarding experiences. That hour away thing would only be an issue if your parents want to pop up often. On the flip side if you're not finding the support you need in undergrad being able to go home could be helpful af.
Good luck making a decision young king

It gets better
Aging is only a problem
When ur eating a dead diet
Not getting ur exersise
Not taking ur supplements
Not taking care of ur skin and hair
And not taking care of ur spiritual temple
When u do those things aging doesnt affect u

It depends on which one I pick...I was *conditionally* accepted into Full Sail University, which is in Orlando, FL and is about eight hours away from our city in GA. My mom is NOT happy that I'm considering leaving home, even if it is for my dream school.
Then there's Georgia State University, which is only an hour from where I live...I haven't even applied to that one yet because there's little to no mention of any music production programs being apart of their curriculum.
So as of right now, I've got my eyes set on going to school in Florida.
Do it! You won't regret. Staying home will cripple you mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

It's weird but the older I get, the less concerned I become about aging...
And I think living in NYC plays a huge role in that too. It's such an ageless/timeless city. It's just a different mindset here, which is why I kinda fear leaving. There's no timelines or pressures for where you should be positioned in life, based on your age.
That made maturing so seamless for me now in my mid/upper 20s. In my early 20s, dealing with aging was a huge struggle and a lot of it was because of my parents and the culture of the south. But also, a lot of it was because I felt like I never had the chance to experience things that I felt like I was now too old to experience at that point. 23 and 24 was so young.... and I kinda feel like I wasted those years.
Oh well.. I made up for it. LOLZ
thinking about turning 25 does sorta shake me to my core sometimes.....

These metropolitan cities really have you bubbled off for a bit.
Im definitely more confident and accepting of my weird/awkward ways now. There's a beauty to learning to accept yourself fully. Thankful for that at least.
