Dawn may use effects on her voice but she definitely can sing. Hence her getting picked for a damn group based on that. The bitch ain't beautiful so it damn sure wasn't her looks. I've never claimed Rihanna to be one of the best voices so what ur saying is null and void. U actually think that nigger sings good and THATS the difference. You'll never hear anyone praise Kelly's vocals cause that ain't his strong suit

I honestly don't even care about u saying dawn can't sing she's not one of my favorite vocalists either but she definitely sings better than r Kelly. Just because I really enjoy someone's music doesn't mean I think they are amazing vocalists, everyone has a place. Anytime I have ever said something about SINGERS its Allah Hathaway, jasmine Sullivan, Brandy or somebody. R Kelly can't fckn sing

She really can't tho. :plzstop: That's why she uses so much autotune. She's dreadful vocally. Trying to hide behind those edgy production and autotune doesn't help.

theres plenty of live vocals, and plenty of songs where she's not drenched in auto tune and sounds great
Her voice is the whole basis of the groups Danity Kane
and Dirty Money because Diddy likes her Brandy-ish vocals

R Kelly can sing, but he's not great and this anthem clip is terrible

Someone who has been in the business as long as he has should be able to perform on the Grammys or done shit without lady gaga  throwing his ass a bone. R.kelly is a "legend" that no one respects and ain't fckn with. Someone who has been in the business as long as he has should be able to perform on the Grammys or done shit without lady gaga  throwing his ass a bone. He lucky he still got some of the hood backing him cause if not he woulda BEEN a memory.

Then explain why he's still getting calls 25 years into his career  :plzstop: Artists covering his songs and praising his genius. All the newbies make references to his song and claim he's the reason they're int he business. Oh Gaga! Threw a bone! Fagg plz, she flew to Chicago to personally ask him backstage at his show. She said out of her own flop mouth that she "needed the King's approval" :uhh:  He performed at the Grammy's in his prime. Just know Pawn will never see a Grammy stage or award. She will always be situated in a damn pup in the middle of nowhere. No praise. Just someone on Bsource who stans for her. That's it. Tears.

Dawn definitely can sing

She really can't tho. :plzstop: That's why she uses so much autotune. She's dreadful vocally. Trying to hide behind those edgy production and autotune doesn't help.

Y'all sound crazy af.

Trying to act like Kellz can't sing but Dawn can? Drink bleach faggots.
theres plenty of live vocals, and plenty of songs where she's not drenched in auto tune and sounds great
Her voice is the whole basis of the groups Danity Kane
and Dirty Money because Diddy likes her Brandy-ish vocals

R Kelly can sing, but he's not great and this anthem clip is terrible

She sounds just as bad without autotune.

R. Kelly is great and that's why he's successful and selling out shows.  :dead: This is honestly the only place where faggs try to deny him despite the plaques on his walls, critical acclaim and PRAISE. I have never.
you keep bringing up his success like we don't have Taylor Swift
Britney Spears etc who are also huge and can't sing for shit
It's widely known that R Kelly is best at writing
his voice is ok at best,

Taylor Swift is a Pop artist. She doesn't cater to listeners who care for vocals like fjfjjf Kellz is a R&B artist and caters to an R&B audience. Vocals are #1 in that genre. He got his start with his vocals. That's what got him signed in the first place with his manager and label. Not his writing. His writing came after that.

You can say his voice isn't your cup of tea but to deny him makes you look pressed and delusional af. He's praised by many for his genius.
Pop listeners also love vocals
Whitney, Celine, Adele, Xtina etc
so that genre stuff is bull
R Kelly is praised for his genius SONGWRITING
his voice is just not great

All of those artists have different fan bases. Celine is Vocal pop. Just like Shirley Bassey. Whitney too. The genre stuff isn't bull :dead: If R. Kelly couldn't sing, niggers wouldn't be checking on him. Period. He wouldn't sell-out shows. He would've dwindled once he hit 30 and would've had to depend on showing his body which he never has.

He's praised for everything. Vocals, lyrics, creativity, etc. Research.

I mean, Aretha Franklin and Etta James. Praised his vocals first. Not his lyrics. :dead: Their opinion >>>>

Taylor is a POP/Country artist and the first thing people notice with her songs is the MELODY, LYRICS then her vocals. She carries a tune. Her type of music doesn't require vocals.

R. Kelly's listeners aren't the same as Taylor's. They're mostly niggers and the first thing is his vocals, not lyrics. He's a great writer but his vocals are the first thing that many notice. Everything goes together. He's the perfect R&B artist. Great singer, writer and ear for melody.

no my comprehension is perfectly fine
Yes the genre "stuff" is bull. Pop country listeners can be just as much into vocals as anyone else. Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Reba McEntire and Faith Hill are perfect examples

R Kelly's listeners aren't the same but it has nothing to do with his genre
His listeners are here for his sexual lyrics and production
OR his inspirational music, rarely does anyone say anything about his voice
his vibrato is a fool, his runs are sloppy and his pitch isn't that great
he's like a male Jennifer Hudson tbh just LOUD

His vibrato is good. Especially in his prime. He doesn't overdo it like some and his runs aren't sloppy :plzstop: He can sustain and has great vocal control.

J Hud can sing but she lacks control over her voice and doesn't know what a crescendo is. They're nowhere near the same :dead:

?Do you love the song that R. Kelly just recorded, ?When a Woman Loves?? I think any woman that?s ever been in love will readily relate to that song. He is singing that song. I mean he is singing his heart and his soul out. You know if he isn?t careful, I might become a cougar" - Aretha Franklin

Country listeners pay just as much attention to vocals as any other genre when the artist can sing

R Kelly also lacks control, and doesn't know what a DECRESCENDO is
they love getting LOUDER as the song goes on
which is what a CRESCENDO is

And it doesn't matter what you notice about his music
the vocals are the weakest part

Not really. I grew up listening to country music and the melody and lyrics are the focus. There are great Country singers though but it's not as vocally driven as R&B is. That's my point.

No he doesn't :uhh: His strength is his control. You need to listen to his music and his live performances before judging him based on a National Anthem performance. And he has never got louder as the song goes on :plzstop: yea, you clearly don't listen to the man's music.

and my point about JHud is that she doesn't crescendo is because she starts a song loud and ends it loud. There's no climax.

That's your opinion and your opinion will never matter about him because you're biased. I'm glad that there are people out there who don't care for him but can give credit where it's due.

You don't listen to him because he has never continuously got louder. He knows when to sing loud and when to switch his tone depending on the song.

I never said there aren't Country listeners who purchase music based on vocals. The vast majority aren't though. You can carry a tune and still slay in Country. It's all about the melody/harmony and lyrics.

I was talking to Ray, blue nigger. I mentioned Aretha and Etta and he asked me to post the quotes so I did. They praised his voice and since you mentioned Stevie. Stevie has praised him too :kii:

I mean it's been said especially about Usher

and R Kelly is wailing loud as hell in that clip and sounding foolish
and very much similar to most of his music
another example I just though of is 3-way phone call
him and Kelly were kinda drowning out Kim Burrell at the end because they are so loud. It's on the Happy People/ U Saved Me album
which I listened to before

You really are talking about the entire genre of country like you've listened to every album by every artist, you haven't
And it doesn't matter if the vocals are over the top
you cannot dictate why other ppl buy music

Did you not just go in a rant on here about how R. Kelly can't sing, isn't a legend, a joke, banned from a festival, discredit praise on Twitter to Shanique and Shanell talkin', etc. simply because I stated that Rih can't sing? and Pawn can't either? :ack: A straw man of sorts.

You said they can sing but R. Kelly can't :ack: Like... and I don't care who's your "top vocalist" the point is you think Rih and Pawn can sing and R. Kelly can't. That's why you're in here typing delusional shit because I'm dragging Pawn by her dentures  :hehe:

So clearly he isn't that great
Kim IS singing on the song they are all singing on the song

that does NOT have to yelled. Clearly you are not paying attention

which really is a mess because "alto" is not a male voice type

Usher has a leggero tenor vocal range.[101][102] When speaking of Usher's vocal range, Rick Juzwiak speaks "his vocal range is even more impressive than his emotional one" with emphasis on his falsetto being "something that sounds as natural as a speaking voice...he's the picture of grace against shrieking synths".

No one says that about Flush'. Stop.

You're always bringing up that one damn song :kii: Kim Burrell wasn't even singing on that song. :dead: They're literally having a convo. Tears. I hate Kim's voice btw. Vibrator sounding self.

Blah, fucking blah. You're just trying to be difficult now. Listen to Country music then get back to me.
plenty of ppl have praised Usher's voice
specifically the Grammy committee
Kim was singing on that song, they all were and at the end Robert and Kelly keep wailing "SAVE ME! Save me! SAVE ME!"
I reference the song because I love Kim's runs on it

I clearly have listened to Country music
I have listed multiple singers who are country and sing very well
and they have huge fan bases who love their vocals
you can't prove they don't PERIOD
Which makes your spiel about R&B and Country void

v

Nah, they don't.
and 'Bert has been nominated for many vocal performances (more than other categories) Grammys but you think he can't sing :ack:

Kim wasn't singing on that shit. She was just talking.
He was "wailing" that because that's what the song is fucking about. Do you pay attention or nah? No you don't.

You keep proving my point. You already know that the vast majority don't care for vocals so you're trying to argue that what I'm saying is wrong because their are Country singers who can sing :uhh: Read what I wrote again until you understand it.
yes they do
and Bert has been NOMINATED but he keeps LOSING every year
So clearly he isn't that great
Kim IS singing on the song they are all singing on the song
and the song is not all about getting saved that's just a prayer at the end
that does NOT have to yelled. Clearly you are not paying attention

and No, you nor I can speak for what the "vast majority" of country listeners like
re-read what you wrote yourself because it's void of logic

They really don't. :dead: Find me a quote. I posted two from legends :letsmessfag:
He doesn't win because of his skin color but he will always be recognized for his legacy.

No, she's not.

Norwood's vocal stylings have had a significant impact on the music industry, most notably with contemporary R&B, pop and gospel genres, where she is often subjectively referred to as the "Vocal Bible".[135] Her work has influenced numerous artists, including Jessie J,[136] JoJo,[136] Bridget Kelly,[136] Olivia,[136] Emeli Sand?,[136] Jordin Sparks,[136] Tank,[136] Teyana Taylor,[136] and Elle Varner,[136] while Norwood's vocals have been praised by several of her peers, including Natasha Bedingfield,[136] Missy Elliott,[136] Jennifer Hudson,[136] Syleena Johnson,[136] Lil' Mo,[136] Brian McKnight,[136] Jill Scott,[136] Angie Stone,[136] and Tamia.[136] Additionally, on many occasions, Norwood has been thought of as a talented artist that music producers and songwriters have used to enhance their own artistic and creative energies.[137][138]

I actually get the logic behind this. That's like if u looked up Whitney or Mariah on Wikipedia there would definitely be something about VOCALS in there because that's something that they've be applauded for. I mean it's kinda clear but of course she gon play dumb to the fact like she always do in these r Kelly debates. The nigger ain't no damn singer n is blacklisted in the damn industry. Play Ray Charles to the shit all u want but a spade is a fckn spade  :kii:

How am I playing dumb? Whitney and Mariah were vocal artists. That's how they started their careers. R. Kelly is a R&B artist. But that doesn't change the fact that he can sing. Crying @ your burnt ass still trying to convince yourself he's "blacklisted" because Pawn is regulated to performing at 7 Eleven's.

Let's call a spade a spade - You're foaming because I'm dragging Pawn by her dentures. Face it, the bitch is a homeless untalented flop. She will never make it in the business and will constantly be overlooked.

The musical term alto, meaning "high" in Italian (Latin: altus), refers to the second highest part of a contrapuntal musical texture and is also applied to its associated vocal range, especially in choral music. More rarely it describes the highest male solo voice type (usually designated countertenor), and it is also the root word of contralto, the lowest standard female voice type. When designating instruments, "alto" likewise can refer either to the corresponding vocal range (alto flute and alto trombone) or to musical role (alto recorder and alto clarinet).

From Usher's

Usher has a leggero tenor vocal range.[101][102] When speaking of Usher's vocal range, Rick Juzwiak speaks "his vocal range is even more impressive than his emotional one" with emphasis on his falsetto being "something that sounds as natural as a speaking voice...he's the picture of grace against shrieking synths". Juzwiak emphasizes the singer's expressiveness by commenting "his emotional range is vast enough to sell tenderness, lechery and wistfulness within minutes of each other'.[103]

Whitney

Houston was a mezzo-soprano,[283][284] and was commonly referred to as "The Voice" in reference to her exceptional vocal talent.[285] She was third in MTV's list of 22 Greatest Voices,[286] and sixth on Online Magazine COVE‍ 's list of the 100 Best Pop Vocalists with a score of 48.5/50.[287] Jon Pareles of The New York Times stated she "always had a great big voice, a technical marvel from its velvety depths to its ballistic middle register to its ringing and airy heights".[288] In 2008, Rolling Stone listed Houston as the thirty-fourth of the 100 greatest singers of all time, stating, "Her voice is a mammoth, coruscating cry: Few vocalists could get away with opening a song with 45 unaccompanied seconds of singing, but Houston's powerhouse version of Dolly Parton's 'I Will Always Love You' is a tour de force."[104] Matthew Perpetua from Rolling Stone also eulogized Houston's vocal, enumerating ten performances, including "How Will I Know" from the 1986 MTV VMAs and "The Star Spangled Banner" at the 1991 Super Bowl. "Whitney Houston was blessed with an astonishing vocal range and extraordinary technical skill, but what truly made her a great singer was her ability to connect with a song and drive home its drama and emotion with incredible precision", he stated. "She was a brilliant performer, and her live shows often eclipsed her studio recordings."[289]

Jon Caramanica of The New York Times commented, "Her voice was clean and strong, with barely any grit, well suited to the songs of love and aspiration. [...] Hers was a voice of triumph and achievement, and it made for any number of stunning, time-stopping vocal performances."[290] Mariah Carey stated, "She [Whitney] has a really rich, strong mid-belt that very few people have. She sounds really good, really strong."[291] While in her review of I Look to You, music critic Ann Powers of the Los Angeles Times writes, "[Houston's voice] stands like monuments upon the landscape of 20th century pop, defining the architecture of their times, sheltering the dreams of millions and inspiring the climbing careers of countless imitators", adding "When she was at her best, nothing could match her huge, clean, cool mezzo-soprano."[284]

Lauren Everitt from BBC News Magazine commented on melisma used in Houston's recording and its influence. "An early 'I' in Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You' takes nearly six seconds to sing. In those seconds the former gospel singer-turned-pop star packs a series of different notes into the single syllable", stated Everitt. "The technique is repeated throughout the song, most pronouncedly on every 'I' and 'you'. The vocal technique is called melisma, and it has inspired a host of imitators. Other artists may have used it before Houston, but it was her rendition of Dolly Parton's love song that pushed the technique into the mainstream in the 90s. [...] But perhaps what Houston nailed best was moderation." Everitt said that "n a climate of reality shows ripe with 'oversinging,' it's easy to appreciate Houston's ability to save melisma for just the right moment."[292]

Houston's vocal stylings have had a significant impact on the music industry. According to Linda Lister in Divafication: The Deification of Modern Female Pop Stars, she has been called the "Queen of Pop" for her influence during the 1990s, commercially rivaling Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.[293] Stephen Holden from The New York Times, in his review of Houston's Radio City Music Hall concert on July 20, 1993, praised her attitude as a singer, writing, "Whitney Houston is one of the few contemporary pop stars of whom it might be said: the voice suffices. While almost every performer whose albums sell in the millions calls upon an entertainer's bag of tricks, from telling jokes to dancing to circus pyrotechnics, Ms. Houston would rather just stand there and sing." With regard to her singing style, he added: "Her [Houston's] stylistic trademarks ? shivery melismas that ripple up in the middle of a song, twirling embellishments at the ends of phrases that suggest an almost breathless exhilaration ? infuse her interpretations with flashes of musical and emotional lightning."[294]

Elysa Gardner of the Los Angeles Times in her review for The Preacher's Wife Soundtrack praised Houston's vocal ability highly, commenting, "She is first and foremost a pop diva ? at that, the best one we have. No other female pop star ? not Mariah Carey, not Celine Dion, not Barbra Streisand ? quite rivals Houston in her exquisite vocal fluidity and purity of tone, and her ability to infuse a lyric with mesmerizing melodrama."[295]

exactly. His bio says "R Kelly's voice can go from baritone to alto"
which really is a mess because "alto" is not a male voice type
unless a man just happens to be singing the "alto" part in a harmony with others. Clearly they just don't care about his voice that much and wrote anything

The musical term alto, meaning "high" in Italian (Latin: altus), refers to the second highest part of a contrapuntal musical texture and is also applied to its associated vocal range, especially in choral music. More rarely it describes the highest male solo voice type (usually designated countertenor)[/b], and it is also the root word of contralto, the lowest standard female voice type. When designating instruments, "alto" likewise can refer either to the corresponding vocal range (alto flute and alto trombone) or to musical role (alto recorder and alto clarinet).

R. Kelly has plenty to validate that opinion. :kii: So a little paragraph off Wiki validates your opinion but quotes from two legends doesn't? You're done. That wasn't your point. You've jumped from different arguments and stated false shit throughout this thread simply because I said Pawn and Rih can't sing.

Those purchased awards. Plea'

But yea, it was needed. Listen to the song. Stop bullshitting about listening to the nigga's music when you clearly don't care for him. It's stupid af.

I have studied music theory and I play instruments. I'm not talking like some expert just because I sang in a church choir like some vnnnnn
I mean R Kelly may need to look into purchasing cuz these 3 ghghgg

But clearly I have listened to the song I referenced EVERYTHING about it
You listen. It was not needed. Just because I don't think he's a great singer
doesn't mean I didn't listen.

I sing, played in marching band went to the arts academy in my school
took music theory from 7th grade to 12th
Then minored in Music for my 4 undergrad years. Took more music theory performed in opera/ theater productions and took piano lessons
Wonder who the church choir person is
:sobusyjetsetter:

Maybe, he should hire Matthew then LMAO!

You referenced Kim's big ass. Listen to it again. Open your ears and stop focusing on runs from Kim. Y'all are too obsessed with runs :uhh:

Not impressed :jackiessales:
I referenced the WHOLE song
specifically the lyrics Robert and Kelly are screaming at the end
I love runs, you love Robert loud goat yodels
We all have preferences. Whatever Robert was loud, he loves to be loud
and that's it  :plzstop:

Loud goat yodels? are you talking about Flush because...

But yea, you're wrong about that song. Try again. :feelinmyself:

You love overdone runs like a typical church nigger.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Rkelly does try to run every now and again but he doesn't really have the skill for that. I'm not even gonna say it's because he's voice is too heavy. Tyrese has a really heavy voice and is a nice runner. It's more about skill

on 3 Way call actually is a perfect example. She only did like 3 runs on that song. That's why Brandy is heavily influenced and compared to Kim. She does runs in just the right places. But they are song complex that it overshadows everything else

His voice isn't heavy :uhh: He always does the run for Bump N' Grind, IBICF live till this day. If his voice isn't agile he wouldn't be able to transition the way he does in songs and that's hard to do. He simply doesn't run a lot in his music because he knows not to give too much in songs unlike other singers who try to compensate for their weak range with random runs throughout a song. Especially a lot of nigger singers. Jaz' is one of them. Doesn't have a big range so she does runs a lot.

Weeknd never does runs. You're confusing melisma with runs, I see.

Weeknd never does runs.  :kii:

You're just being pathetic now.
His runs are ugly and sloppy as fuck that's why he doesn't do them

WEaknd tries to do runs with his lil pipsqueak voice  :dead:
I agree with this wholeheartedly.

You're confusing melisma with runs, I see.
the IBICF and Bump & Grind runs are wack by
and you're delusional about Jazmine. She actually has a very wide range
from bottom to top. You don't know what range is. Or runs, because runs ARE a type of melisma. brush up on that music theory

Because melisma is the broad term used for anytime
a person is singing, and stretches out one syllable over multiple notes
which is exactly what a person does when they run
but also scatting, inflections, belting/growling/squalling, scatting
all are types of melisma

he ruined it at the end himself with them WAILS :dead:

Kim actually ruined that song. I always skip over her part. Should've just been Kellz and Kelly Price. They were perfect together.
youre being so immature
Now she ruined it
but just a second ago you implied that she didn't
and Robert stopped her
which is it?

IMO, she did. She wasn't needed. It was perfect with Kellz and Kelly Price. I don't like her tone for the song.

and I imagine that he did tell her that because she didn't do many runs and she's known for that stuff right?
shes known for how great her runs are
but not for overdoing them.

and yes melisma and runs are the same

How Sway
Because melisma is the broad term used for anytime
a person is singing, and stretches out one syllable over multiple notes
which is exactly what a person does when they run
but also scatting, inflections, belting/growling/squalling, scatting
all are types of melisma

OH?!

Contemporary R&B vocalists are often known for their use of melisma, popularized by vocalists such as Michael Jackson, R. Kelly, Stevie Wonder,[1] Whitney Houston[1][2][3] and Mariah Carey.[2][4][5]

Yea Kim (on record) doesn't really overdo it at all. kinda like Jazmine

and Jazzy may not show it off a lot, but her range is pretty impressive

Well I'd like to hear it. I feel like there is a pocket that she stays in. I love it but still........She even just made that video about not singing songs from her 2nd cd because they are "HARD" to sing. She has a range she likes to stay within IMO

oh no i definitely agree with that last part. she's super similar to Brandy in that regard :dead: "i can do that but EH"   :dead: :dead: She definitely sticks to her stronger areas

I can agree with her comfort zone
every singer has one but Jaz has about 3 solid octaves she's shown on record. Which is 24 notes from bottom to top
it's not Mariah, but it's very good

He did in the 90's - 00's. I don't hear him do it a lot in his new songs now. That's what I meant.

Brandy was actually who I thought of too while writing this. Definitely a comfort zone that she sticks to so that she can comfortably "go off" when she wants to. Brandy shows more of her range than jazmine tho
