This is exactly what happened. There is no reason ANYONE should be entering on the tracks. They have staff for that and they will legit stop the trains from running if they need to. This girl was stupid and died for a phone

And if y'all work on the trains then conductors speaking to fellow employees out the window is not at all an uncommon thing. They just needed someone to pin this on and because he just so happened to be doing this at the time this bitch jumped on the tracks for a phone, he's the scapegoat. I honestly see why he was fired.
It's outrageous to think he was laughing at killing the girl, but I'm pretty sure that the most basic responsibility of his job is to stay alert.
He was yelling out the window, giving peace signs to his homies, waving at his fans as the train struck and killed the girl.
It's not his fault that she decided to go on the tracks, but I'm sure in reviewing that tape they decided that his behavior couldn't be excused. There's just no way what I saw could be seen as professional or by-the-book.
If I were on a train I'd want to know that the conductor had his eyes on the tracks in front of him at all times.

Tommy Soto is a whole mess. dssddsds
And if the train was pulling into the station to stop, the speed would have been slowed down as it enters the stop.
Why was he not paying attention as he entered a space where riders would be present?
I was assuming he was midway through a trip or something, not approaching a damn station. I def see why he was fired now.
That's not saying he would have been able to stop it, but his eyes should have been on the damn station, not his homies.
What are you talking about? He was already slowing down to enter the stop area. He was going the speed and doing what he was supposed to do. The CTA doesn't stop the 1st car at the beginning of the railing platform and depending on the platform he may had some distance
Why would she run towards it
Wouldn't he see that he hit her? It looks like.he saw someome he knew and then stopped the train

Just an FYI and fact check:
This actually happened back in June, and the conductor was just fired last week.
Seems like they may have placed him on suspension as they investigated a bit, which isn't uncommon.
....And then made their decision. Judging by this statement they made, it doesn't look like he'll be asked to come back.
Quote"The employee's behavior is unacceptable and in violation of CTA's policy and procedures," CTA spokesman Brian Steele said. The employee was fired last week for "failure to devote attention to duty and ensuring safe train operations," Steele said.
"We take instances like this very seriously ..." said Steele. "The actions depicted in this video do not reflect the overwhelming majority of the men and women who operate CTA trains."
