I think her debut/NSN tone is the most nostalgic.
Human does something to me.
I mean this girl gave us all these tones in Love Again so dammit idk :dead:

I made the thread but this is a hard one for me guys. It's definitely between the sweetness of her Never Say Never tone and Human. There are some songs that the NSN tone work amazing on (The Boy Is Mine and Almost Doesn't Count), but her tone on NSN wouldn't have worked as well on A Capella or even Beggin N Pleadin.
Geesh! I think I have to go with NSN. No...Human. Lol. I think.

I feel like she's gonna be less rangy on this new album and she'll be embracing her lower tone more. Sometimes Brandy sounds different live than on record and I think this album, she's actually giving us her true, stage vocal. Which Im excited about.
Human / NSN go fight for 1st place all the time.
Human really is that tone vocally, she did what she had to do. Queen self

And then when I copped the CD and heard I Tried and Sadiddy, I was like wtf happened to her voice? :kii: It took me a while to get used to how thick her tone sounded. But ur right. Im reconsidering too. Cause one of the reasons Full Moon is so epic and is a fave by sooo many is because of her tone. It wasnt as light and raspy as NSN but not as full as Afro's. And her voice soared on songs like WOW in a way I dont think she could do now. Sometimes I miss that voice, but especially the NSN tone. If only I could hear her sing ADC with that tone again.
I just randomly picked 2ALLAHven
this is soooo hard because its BRANDY and her tone(s) are all great for different reasons
I like how she sounds on WIldest, Slower, Paint, Do You Know, Music, Too Late
ok pretty much evrything but those stand out to me tone wise on that album

Baby Bran. The current tone is slaying me however.
I will say I feel like Baby Bran's vocals were Brandy's most confident vocal offerings. The way she came out the gate as a teen SWINGING. Some of the eras after were Brandy kinda finding her voice, but she was sure of who she was then. Even her live performances of songs like Brokenhearted.

Beggin & Pleadin' had her feeling herself BIG time that early part of 2016. That was a fucking vocal for that ass
The LMG performances :flamebroiled:
She was so confident during this era.
zhxjncncnc
"Y'all want me to go high or low? LMAO!!"
Human. The damn clarity alone :loose2when:
"Never Say Never" tone does something to me. It's so light and sweet. She became a vocal prowess during "Full Moon" of course.
This is too hard because she can switch it up. She never sounds the same on any two songs. Ultimately I went with Human. The song that immediately came to mind was Porcelain Doll. My favorite part is the tone and feel of her vibrato towards the end when she's sing "I'm trying to fa-a-aa-aaaAall ha-arddd, aarddd!"
Ugh, make me feel some kinda way. She's unreal. :stressed: :loose2when:
I'm gonna actually say Two Eleven. She actually blew me away with songs like Slower, Hardly Breathing and wish your love away. She sang with so much passion like her life depended on it.
Debut Brandy is my favorite only because it still amazes me what she was able to do at such a young age. The depth of her voice hadn't really developed yet so there was a sweetness and innocence to her tone. Plus it's nostalgic AF at this point.
I was literally blown away when on "Talk to me" she just jumped back into it. To be able to revisit your old voice is something I know a lot of singers could only wish to do. It's what truly separates her from the rest.
This is hard as fuck.
She came with VOCALS on Human.
Her babyBran tone is to die for.
And NSN is just classic.
Full Moon smashed.
Afrodisac - Jesus.
Two Eleven - So SICK, alone!!
I just... we are lucky to be stans.

Bitch, TALK TO ME is when I truly realized this bitch is crazy.
She BROUGHT BACK a fucking tone that I thought was gone.
It was at that moment I learned this bitch can turn it the fuck on and off.

I bet its scrapped though
NSN....
it's funny... cuz during that time as a kid, I didn't like the new tone. Now that I'm older and more musically mature, I LOOOOOOOOVE it. :dead:
But honestly..... Two Eleven is probably second. She had the smoothness of her Full Moon tone, but with elements of her NSN tone. Do You Know gives me NSN DOOOOOOWN.

This is Rodney talkin about What About Us right? Yeah, he definitely got a front seat in seeing her vocal progression. I wouldnt even call it a progression cause I wouldnt say her vocal necessarily got better - she just gave something different. She been that girl. If anything, her progression came more from her vocal arrangements. A frickin Queen.
I feel like with every album she was givin us TONE. And each had its highlights.
I particularly love the grit and rasp of Afro, particularly when it was softened on Focus and Where You Wanna Be.
The richness and clarity of Human.
And her tone on the unreleased track "Honey" :gorlonfire:
I love how sweet it is; she literally sounds like honey would sound if honey had a sound. this queen. :gorlonfire:

All this love!! :'(
It's so funny because I remember on one of the old boards, I started an "Artists who Praise Brandy" thread, to gather receipts for folks who said she couldn't sing, was irrelevant etc and to see this is just...I still see the rare comment like that from people who don't "get it", but those comments don't really bother me as much anymore. Anyone who listens to her albums chronologically should be able to hear her vocal progression.
She goes from cooing to belting effortlessly on Paint This House
Inside this house you'll!

She was actually pursuing him harder than he was. She wanted ideas from him to see what he had and she did like some rough takes here and there but nothing solid
No complete song actually came from the back and forth, if i recall. Anything is possible though

Full moon brandy would NOT have attacked it like this. It would've been very different, though still dope.
There's this very very small and subtle nuance that she does right at 2:32 after the very first run that she does to open up her part on this song, and she did that a lot during the AFRO era. "HEEEEeeeeeey yeeeea ... nah"
With the slight rasp at the very end to set it off. Very signature for the Afrodisiac era and album

Right. With Full Moon, the ad libs were perfectly placed (which is a good thing), but you can tell on Afrodisiac, she was more liberated vocally and more experimental.

:plzstop:
She really killed this. I haven't listened to this in years and wow!
its the head movement for me :kii: as she fucks us up one last time with that crazy ass riff omg

Mary's reaction gets me everytime :dead:
But yea, Timbo has Brandy SINGING.
I still feel like if she would've performed Afro tracks live we would've seen a lot more powerful vocals th and the album versions.

!!!!! I wish she trusted herself more. ESPECIALLY that era. Like, girl. The music speaks for itself. You don't have to be like anyone else on that stage
When people like Fantasia say "this is the only vocal im scared to get on a stage with" she wasn't gassing it. If brandy only knew sssss
I love that Babyface made sure the 90's queens had their own solo mess on that song. Mary, Monica and Bran
We need another one of these. I want everyone letting us fucking HAVE it, vocally.

He gave Faith a part as well
I love this record ; and it's so appropriate
Something like this has to be made again
Ugh that's too hard!! It's somewhere between the nostalgic tone of NSN , the raw tone of Afro and the silky beautiful tone on Human. IDK!! Depends on my mood and where I am in life tbh all I know is I need her to give me a little bit of all of it on Be7.
