Doja gave me a lil less than I expected but I understand since she was hosting —Queen still slays

I'm proud of Lil Nas X - he's growing as a performer and it's evident . I loved it for US; so progressive

Normani performed down—love ha
She tried to give a vocal tea too and I loved that
Teyana is stunning —she coulda been added to a remix tbh since it fits her sound

But bitchhhhh Chloe has arrive  :gorlonfire: :gorlonfire: :gorlonfire: :gorlonfire:
That was electrifying and as exciting and wild as young early Bey —sis is HONGRY

this ending scene ...
all these black gays on the VMA stage doing wtf they wanna do

being sexually expressive. falling into a "sea" of one another. caressing each other.

we've seen this done a million times before on stages and in music videos - just not with THIS group of people.

im here for it
That part made me tear up a bit seeing black gays just being THEM.
u can tell they were happy to be up there and happy to be SEEN.

representation matters
!!

In all their loud, extra, and ho glory
:stressed:

As a counterpoint, I think it's fair to question if some of these artists are being there authentic selves. Or if the means justify the ends - shock and awe. Lil Nas X, for example, has stated in the past that the impetus for some of his actions has been to specifically spite the Christian community. I think some of these artists can do a better job of expressing themselves without sacrificing the crux of who they really are.

One thing about this new generation, that Ive noticed and like, is that they're not ageist like our generation.

They seem to respect, love, and see our generation of artists as their own.

Whereas, our generation is always like "why is this old ass bitch here? Send ha to the goddam NURSING home already"
