and I don't see what benefit they would get from learning about the gay community in elementary school. That was the point of my response to Pons. Like I said a HS program would make sense and those teens would have the choice of wanting to learn about it. Just how in college there are courses about LGBT. People have that choice.

I think within early development it's best to teach tolerance early on because it allows you time rather than later in the cognitive development stage.

Like why should a child learn about that? When they're only concerned about finishing their homework and watching some damn cartoons. Ch... Like I said the high school program would be cool. Those are the times they start to show students about safe sex and stuff. That would be a good time for the LGBT program as well. And no I'm not saying gay=sex. It's sexuality and I don't think anyone in 6th grade in under is worried about learning about that. Usually when you're in 7th grade and up, you're figuring out your likes, dislikes and who you are as a person in the world.

You have no idea how smart kids are these days. There are plenty of kids who know who they are when they're 8,9 years old. Trust me. Especially when it comes to sexuality and gender identity.  Hell, even for decades kids knew who they were but had to suppress it in fear of being bullied, ridiculed, etc.

I highly doubt they're gonna be showing kids how to fleet after they finish learning how to cross multiply.

It's an alternative option for children and parent who don't want their child to endure bullying.

I'm thinking psychologically. A child is still developing mentally and physically. You don't know who you are at those ages.

I went to elementary school with kids who appeared a certain way but they grew up to be totally different. I knew girls who went through a tomboy phase and boys who seemed feminine but because they're "different" they shouldn't be excluded from other students of different backgrounds. That's all I'm saying here. I just think it would easy to confuse them at those ages. That's why when certain kids grow up in shit environment, they just repeat what they're taught over and over. An endless cycle.

You specifically said why should they learn about black, Asian, Hispanic and not the gays like my response is that elementary students were taught about American history and geography. They weren't taught the AA history (slave trade) and other races until 7th grade and up.
