I don't think it's fear. Some black people genuinely don't care about these issues, especially if it doesn't affect them directly. And especially when it has to do with entertainment/modeling, etc.

I mean, at the end of the day it's no one's human or civil right to have a modeling contract, or a blockbuster movie deal, or an Oscar. These industries are openly discriminatory and it's accepted. If you get into this business it kind of comes with the territory.

I'm all for rooting for change but let it be genuine, not just when you're having a temper tantrum cuz Massa didn't give you a cookie this time around.

I agree on the lawrence complain, tho. This is just marketing, the Academy LOVES to award certain people over and over. thats the nature of many industries, music one included. No way Taylor Swiftz deserves all those grammies. Same with other artists.

i don't think the music industry is really much of a black thing
it's a genre thing

if you look at the 90s-early 00s
the billboard was dominated by R&B, which allowed more black artists to thrive.

So I changed my approach and used the other usual expression, at least on europe. "people of color" is used A LOT on media and tv. If u havent seen/read it yet, then you must start reading some newspapers or watching some News shows.
