Many times when people are forced to deal with things , especially clearly visible things that may or may not be within their control.... They acknowledge that people will have hurtful and inconsiderate things to say about it , and they build up a wall to defend themselves .
It's no different from someone saying "I love being a big girl. Fat is beautiful I don't give a fuck about what anyone has tah say!!. " ... it's almost like beating other people to the punch before they talk shit - whether or not they have insecurities and hurt about how they look.

And In that same clip you're referencing, Jada also spoke on how traumatic it was for her to see chunks of her hair falling out into the bathtub.
