At least six people have been killed in a shooting in downtown Highland Park, Illinois, in the area of a July 4th parade, and more than two dozen have been injured, authorities said.

Police are still searching for the suspect who is described as an 18 to 20-year-old White man. The suspect is still considered armed and dangerous, officials say, and a rifle was recovered from the scene.

There is a perimeter around the downtown area and residents are being urged to stay indoors, officials said. The suburban city is located about 25 miles north of downtown Chicago.
