I remember seeing something about how Lizzo and SZA are able to sustain bc they stopped catering toward a demo that doesn't care for them to begin with.

I actually feel really bad for her, that's fucked up. cuz you can tell she really does put a lot into what she does

I hope the tour does well
!!

I feel like touring is where she'll improve and show consistency.

!!!

same with Lil Nas X to some degree
!!

Nas too. The thing they have going for them is that they don't change their music for any particular audience but they don't allow an audience to dictate their direction in one way or the other.

Quote from: Gilgamesh. on April 02, 2023, 10:16:03 AMShe's had one of the worst rollouts since Tinashe was on RCA. No way Bey was involved in this.
tbh she had a lot of promo.

8 singles/videos. award show performances.

some girls can only dream of getting all of that.

True she's been visible but none of it has been well received. They didn't even stick with any of the singles besides "Have Mercy".

also someone posted this on LSA and this is ver' true

QuoteChloe just needs to stop making music for the "male gaze, that's her issue rn. Even her fans on social media have complained about it. She makes music & music videos for guys. The thing is these men do not give af about her music, they just wanna see her body.

She needs to rebrand herself.

The fags and black women are her main demographic, not straight men. lean into that girl.

Lil Nas X would've never had a second but if he listened to the urban crowd but the other tricky part is that the pop crowd can be very fickle and get bored easily.

It's particularly black men that she caters to because they show her the most attention but she should know that it's only for social media volume.

also this is how the rollout should have went for Chloe now that I'm thinking about it

1st single - Have Herpes
2nd single - Fleet Me - promote with some late night performances
3rd single - For the Night / launched at the same time as an EP with the singles before and 3-4 more new songs to test the waters / BET Awards performance

Then 2023 should have been a new CxH album in the second half of the year after the Little Mermaid was all wrapped up and Chloe was done trying to be a solo act

Exactly I was watching a reaction vid for FLO fly girl and someone mentioned how the message is so much different than most popular songs. It's about not needing validation and just having a great time. They are not impressed by material things or compliments. Cardboard box, losing you, not my job and immature are also about refusing to deal with BS, Summertime about having a good time with the girls..the lyrics are more empowering. I guess that's why I really enjoy their songs (their growth has been amazing to see as well).

Chlöe's music is often about pleasing the man, the male gaze. And accepting too much BS honestly. It's also a bit difficult to connect with her music because it sounds forced and dramatic (I don't mind explicit language but there's just something about her cursing a lot that's cringeworthy) I think she's still looking for her identity, it's just been very Beyoncé inspired so far. I think in the visuals the latex outfits are too much Bey..styling for Ungodly was perfect. Some lyrics and themes that work for a Beyoncé just don't work for her.
