i mean they could also throw in categories for best folk, latin, and electronic dance while we're at it

there are black people making that music for sure.

but the reality is a majority of black folks enjoy R&B/hip-hop and gospel.

this is supported by data ( im not randomly generalizing), and any smart company is gonna follow the data - which leaves Rock in the least listened category at only 7%

developing an  "include everything!" approach would only take up time that could be used entertaining their core audience's preferences. which could possibly alienate them

Soul music is one of the foundations of Rock. That's why I said what I said. Our people could do a better job at recognizing those artist.

Like an older Steve Lacy. I understand his frustration but during his peak time, his music just didn't fit BET and their audience. But I feel like today, "black music" has broadened and Black listeners have broadened their musical interests (e.g. Steve Lacy, Kane Brown). There could be an opportunity to embrace Lenny now on BET that wouldn't feel random or forced.

He doesn't have a black audience and I've never seen him around black people honestly.

And the gorls are saying his team would deny any black outlet off rip so he should probably look at all the white people he chose to surround himself with first before blaming the shows.

BET is described at being geared towards black CULTURE, which is not just hip hop & r&b

and if just bieber can be nominated for best new artist, a lenny mess SHOULDN'T be an issue. i the network didn't see this opportunity to expand their black audience, even tho the network been kinda tanking for years.

and it's very ignorant for the network to assume that black people aren't into rock, especially when we invented it. and that is very much an assumption. but i guess that's what happened when a bunch of white people are making decisions for us. this includes his publicist too.

but his publicist do have to take some accountability and he has to acknowledge that. but i'm QUITE sure that was not 100% the issue at play
