did you think they were gonna do a staggered shutdown according to each timezone? vccccc
u clearly skipped over the article I posted where even the White House said tik tok is pulling an unnecessary "stunt"
I thought it was a bit stunt-ish considering it was shut down early (and started thinking why did they still shut it down at all. I was confused because Biden got a green light to enforce the ban from SCOTUS but opted not to) but I did a lil research to confirm my theory.
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5093393-white-house-tiktok-ban-joe-biden-support/amp/ Turns out they gave a "warning" that they'd "go dark" unless they received outright support from Biden, instead of his passive "I'll just leave it to trump" mess.
so tik tok still shutting down is definitely an effort to apply pressure, send a message and prove a point.
Tik tok wants the gorls to SEE what their absence could do . It's typical obnoxiously annoying chink behavior but also smart - as proving negative and widespread impact (including cultural and even economic consequences) could discourage the US government from fuckin with them in the future.
Here's an excerpt from the article in case you're too lazy to click the link.
QuoteThe White House on Saturday called TikTok's statement warning that it will "go dark" on Sunday unless President Biden steps in a "stunt," arguing the app doesn't have to take action before President-elect Trump is sworn in.
"We have seen the most recent statement from TikTok. It is a stunt, and we see no reason for TikTok or other companies to take actions in the next few days before the Trump Administration takes office on Monday," outgoing press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wrote in a statement Saturday.
