Quote from: BruceTruMusicFan on January 19, 2025, 01:33:40 PMIt's very hypocritical for a Chinese company to own such a large social media platform considering how must are ban in their country including TikTok. I'm glad its closed.
TikTok is trying to pull a power move, but the reality is that TikTok cannot exist without the USA. Now, Trump is going to bail them out to see like a hero to content creators, but honestly TikTok did not have as much power as they thought they did.
i honestly don't think tik tok was under the delusion that they had more power than the supreme courts
or that people who sit in those positions to get rid of them (from entirely different generations) would be inclined to save them when a concern of national security is raised - just cuz their app is so cool n fun
If anything I think that the way this playing out is actually proving that tik tok may actually have a significant amount of "power" in the states . Ultimately, Biden eventually shied away from enforcing the ban and now trump is promising to help them
Tik tok then took it a step further and drove the point of their economic/cultural significance by purposely pulling the plug . Not long enough for the gorls to find alternatives and come to terms with it ... just long enough to cause a little chaos.
Trump made a genuine, meaningful connection with tik tok during his campaign and discovered himself how useful their platform is.
He's actually doing the right thing by stepping back on his previous stance . Still a kii cuz he's ALWAYS proven to be inconsistent and/or incorrect. But this is one instance where his inconsistency will benefit many.
