Watching and consuming lots pop culture content from the last 1-2 years has put a lot of new perspectives and ways of thinking into my head. I mean it was Katt Williams who really set the tone for the whole of 2024 everybody wanting and going to tell the "TRUTH", where now this looking behind the curtains has now become the standard when it comes to music celebs, completely radicating almost any talk about the art at hand.
I mention all this to say, that the rules of power and who is the "number one" can very quickly be re-ordered and shuffled around, because certain behind-the-scenes-conduct can now put you all the way out of the ranking/conversation versus just being a fragment of your legacy (see R. Kelly, Diddy and to some extent even Drake). They might have the stats and overall celebrity power and discography to be seen as part of an untouchable top 5 league, but are quickly reduced to mere laughing stocks. So it seems like nobody is really safe.
So let's hypothetically say, Beyoncé star would crash, for whatever reason. Jay-Z doing all these award show antics eerily reminds me of Diddy before he crashed owt (VMA legend award, and this LOVE Grid project with all the celebs), and them inviting all the new black it girls to their Oscars party. idk it looks like the Kwowles-Carters might be preparing for something. Let us hope not, but if Beyoncé falls, would that mean...
That with Brandy's whos memoir is going to drop this fall, where she will spill all the tea about who blackballed and sabotaged her, and giving all the legendary tea and stories about working with Whitney, Chaka, Diana Ross, Gladys Knight or Mariah Carey, that the R&B listeners and the black consensus will finally recognize that BRANDY is the true modern reigning mother and queen of black popular music and not Bey, and that nature will heal again, and R&B will be about singing and vocals and unique writing again and not about perfect bodies, perfume deals and mystery.
I could see Brandy re-emerging and this memoir conversation bringing her healing to the point she will finally give us that album worthy of the NSN, FM, Afodisiac streak. Because let us be honest, eversince Brandy lost her confidence after the car crash, her music has not been the same. But the memoir and all the online love could restore that full devine confidence and break the curse, and Brandy could have her summer at last. Because all the leading black women in entertainment are her daughters from Keke Palmer, to Issa Rae, to Quinta Brunson, to Normani, to Coco Jones, to H.E.R. all the way to Tiwa Savage, who is the mother of Tems and Tyla.
So basically if Beyoncé's star falls because of Jay-Z allegations, if Bran's memoir is written compellingly, Bran will get a huge confidence boost and create an album, worthy of her status and up her legacy that would put her next to names that are A list without a question, and R&B music and black female singers could finally breathe and flourish again, cause they will no longer be sufficated by Beyoncé comparisons, and the music will be better and more unique and edgy again.
