they're taking these 10 second snippets of what she's saying and blowing it into a whole new story when clearly she was piggybacking off of the Martin conversation - just a "matter of fact" note she clearly tucked in to what seemed to have been a conversation on her Martin comments. it's so obvious i don't even need to hear the rest of the interview to make sure i understand the context.

but COMEDIANS make fun of EVERYBODY. that's literally the job. equal opportunity lashings. they ain't putting nobody on some imaginary "do not disturb" list. also, you can't laugh at other jokes and then catch feelings when it comes your way. what's good for the goose is good for the gander. experienced trauma is completely valid, but a comedian isn't responsible for your triggers, you are. the world doesn't need to (and isn't going to) censor itself for your comfort. and that's across the board.

one doesn't have to be offended or pretend to be offended to just have empathy for someone's personal experience or feelings

if a Black woman comes to me and says "heres my experience as a Black woman"

costs nothing for me to just nod and say i understand and i'm sorry you're feeling that way. even if i don't find what was said to be personally offensive.

i don't HAVE to tell her to STFU and sit down somewhere. it's not ... necessary.
