That summation kinda oversimplifies and unintentionally(?) dramatizes the situation.

He was fired for saying Charlie's killer is aligned with MAGA.

He was fired because of comments he made about Charlie's murder and those involved in it - not who Charlie was affiliated with when he was alive.

And I said they are likely a contributing factor, obviously in addition to comments that were made.

I never said I just got off the phone with an ABC head who told me the tea and sent me documents. I presented this as "my thoughts" and what I said wasn't unreasonable.

they claimed "ratings!" for colbert report as well. thing is, ratings have not had any sudden dramatic shift. late night BEEN struggling. most people are just bright enough to realize that these cancellations both came after something was said on the shows that trump didn't like. so yes, they're going to use the "oh ratings were so low" excuse but, again, most people are keen enough to see the blatant retaliation in both situations. especially when the president has literally declared open war on the media and is salivating at anything he can do to silence any adversarial platform. like...

to even be arguing "oh well the ratings were low too guys!" is so right-wing coded and WEIRD.

i asked myself two questions when this update popped up on BSource

1) "Why would they fire him just for saying Charlie was aligned with something he was proud of? Doesn't make sense."

2) "Were the ratings falling? This seems like a pretty easy pull for ABC."

And both questions prompted me to do my own research. Based on my findings, my questions appear to be legitimate.

I heard about this too.

And this theory kinda ties back to a lot of these "canceled!" decisions being business-driven at the end of the day.

Whether it's ratings or pending mergers, it's not a surprise that something involving MONEY was driving this seemingly easy decision, in addition to the controversy.

But it also speaks to Trump's influence and bully-ish tactics of him and his allies.

As I mentioned and spoke on several times in here, two things can be true at the same time. It doesn't always have to be one or the other.
