The Only BLACK Kalmyks

no.

this "freedom of speech! 😩 " nonsense with GHan has gotten completely out of hand.

get with the program or get GOT.

Project started: 2014 Wrapped up: 2024

Significant Discovery: First known Black American family of Kalmyk descent

Takeaways: Be prepared to pivot, even when you think you're on the right track. Be OK with being wrong so you can get things right.

Kalmyks are tribal Mongolic people who settled in Russia. It's estimated that only 300,000 Kalmyk descendants exist worldwide - with only 3,000 in America.

Grandpa and his Grandma ❤️

Justice Jackson

I think lashawn did have credits on at least b7.. Possibly the Christmas album, can't remember. But not sure how strong his influence was

That's why sometimes I think Rodney was the biggest factor on the particular elements people are mentioning. I know they have personal issues, but she probably don't feel like being pushed and stressed by him either lol
Ketanji Jackson has come this far by faith.

Ketanji Brown will still beatcho ass.

Brandy needs Rodney, whether she wants to admit it or not

Quote from: NEW MOON on September 19, 2025, 07:09:22 PMI really hope Brandy can find new people to work with. She became obsessed with over-layering around the time she had the drama with the Kennedy center, when those ppl told her to dial it back and she took offense to it.

She sounds beautiful here though, but as someone else said...wish her voice would take the lead more.

I want to say this with the most respect, but do you think Lashawn Daniels (RIP) played a large roll in the Brandy sound we love and appreciate, and his absence is what we are missing?

I do. He pushed her to bring her voice to the forefront. There's a clip of him telling her to brighten her vocals when she recorded Love Again.

He wasn't even alive during the Christmas album bby and passed b4 she finished B7....we know he did Unconditional Oceans, Love Again and Borderline for sure. She does need to be pushed...remember she said Oak Felder left the studio b/c she wasn't sanging on Beggin & Pleadin and that is what pushed her 🙄
I'm bossy/I'm the first girl to scream on a track

Quote from: DrewBabyLove on September 19, 2025, 09:49:15 PMGuys it's a unofficial release of a song she recorded in 45 minutes for Instagram... this deep dive into her abilities and mixing and what not...

Would love it if she did this more often though

This ia exactly what I was getting at.  You can tell the difference in the songs he was involved in.  I feel like Brandy needs someone to push her vocally or she'll tend to fall in her "safe" zone. I still think the mixing is a problem though.  Brandy's style of laying tracks, requires someone with skill to make it shine.

My thoughts exactly.

Beyonce's backgrounds are just as intricate

They aren't. When Brandy does it, it sounds like how a kaleidoscope looks
i agree with this and that's not always a good thing imo.  I prefer Beyonce's tbh. The parts are still CLEAR and not muddy up. Also it's not just a bunch of coos. Sometimes I worry that I'm over Brandy musically because I don't really like her style atp.

Wait because I feel like this is one of the reasons I didn't really see it for B7 and the Xmas album...

Again, the stacks are GREAT but sometimes clarity gets lost because they become overpowering.

So I agree partly. People BEG her for music but complain about the music she releases which is absolute insanity. Now me on the other hand, I LOOOOVE B7 and CWB but if there was one thing I could change, it would be to have her start raising her lead vocals and minimizing harmonies for verses. Excellent music but it becomes distracting.

I don't know if she necessarily needs Rodney, but someone that understands how to balance what makes brandy voice and approach to music unique, while also making it accessible is key. I think that's why I enjoyed her vocals on Two Eleven, it captured the essence of what we know and love about brandy's voice - her tone and harmonies, but it was balanced out with strong leads that shined.

Summertime

Brandy & one of her daughters.
If Brandy ever gets into her Chaka Khan bag & like some many older Black American female artists and just tell her true thoughts on things. One of them I would like to hear is what she really thinks ab her influence.
Does she really like to be copied? What were her thoughts in her NSN era when she turned around the industry & on the radio & that was the start of hearing everyone trying to do her.
Some things she said back in the 90s at least at that point gave she loathes it.

Brandy's Unconditional Ocean

Wow this has gone super viral on every platform. Especially Tik tok  :dead: omg
And i just saw a comment that Tamar Braxton put up, saying she was in tears because the spirit of Lashawn Daniels was all over this recording.
