I didn't know that Monica didn't even have an NAACP award.  They really try to give everyone that's of note one of those.  She really is kinda shitted on

I saw this on my Twitter timeline. Possibly she's responding to a fan.

Critics never liked her and I can see why, she doesn't write her own songs, has never produced anything, and the lyrics and production in her songs are always one or two step behind the current paradigms.

But in the case of the grammys/yt awards, I believe ghetto/hood female R&B singers get tossed aside just because of their upbringing/public persona. Happened to Monica, Faith, the Xscape/SWV girls, Keyshia, all of whom have never won a single grammy or solo grammy (in the case of Mons and Faith).

Yeah the woman does deserve some accolades. They do discredit her a lot. Especially
being linked to Brandy. I feel like the industry does this to keep that, "The Boy is mine/The success Is Mine)
or one artist is better than the other narrative going in hopes to have tension between the two in some way.
But for her to have so many unrecognized/unawarded or non-nominated moments is crazy. Making "The Boy Is Mine"
her only big achievement and contribution is not fair.

I'll never forget when Billboard gave Beyonce an award for having the most calendar weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 by a female in Billboard history (17) but Monica had more (18) and a reader called them out on it.

Or when The Boy is Mine, the biggest female collab in music history lost the Soul Train award to 702. :plzstop:

This is what I always find hilarious when some Monica fans bring Brandy into their gripes as if she's the reason that Monica goes unrecognized. Brandy barely gets recognized for her contributions to the industry as it is, it's just now she's getting her flowers more than before. Nothing has been handed to her, she's worked for it.

Kalifornia.

I wonder if seeing Brandy recently getting her flowers made her feel a way.

Mon does deserve more recognition than she gets.

!!!!!!!!
Because I dont truly buy that she just DOESN'T CARE, who wouldn't wanna be recognized for their contributions to an industry they've been in since being a CHILD! I think she has just reconciled with always being 2nd or 3rd or WHATEVER. She is very mature about it tho
