I agree with Young.
It's one thing to know your 8th time great grandparents were slaves.
It's another to know that your great grandparents were slaves - too close to home. too recent.

although its a horrible concept regardless of generation.

Why was Tamera was shocked? ALL Black people are come from Africa and ended up in the Caribbean, S.America and America due to the slave trade, that's like basic history :everythingok: What are they teaching you guys in school over there?

Tamera thinks she's white, I believe

Tamera actually thinks she's black
Her and her sister argued over that one time on the show
Tamera was not having any of the "white" stuff
:dead:
But her father is white :uhh:

she knows that
:dead:
but she sees herself as black woman
:ohwow:
who happens to have a white father

That's how people view us. Especially police officers. I remember Tahj on Wendy WIlliams saying he tells people he's black.  I get it.

Not every black persons line of their family includes slavery though
There were many free people of color ... My grandmother has ancestors who were FPOC on her fathers side of the family.
Then she had Native family on her moms side that I traced back several generations.

That is my mothers mother. I don't know if there were any slaves in her Direct Ancestral line tbh. And I went back 5+ generations from her birth.  That's not to say they didn't exist. I just couldn't find receipts .

But I definitely know MY fathers side of the family is descendants of slaves.
I am a descendant of slaves. And I'm proud of it. My family overcame many obstacles to eventually OWN the land we were enslaved on.

Being black doesn't automatically mean you will find slaves in your timeline though.

I do agree thAt no black person should be SHOCKED that there's a slave in their family history :dead:

But Tamera grew up in Disneyland . Where these things don't exist
Cut her some slack
hngghhhhhhh

she's always emotional though. i didn't take it as shock

she seemed excited about what specific parts of Africa she was from
!!!!!!!!! She seemed excited that could finally make sense of everything. But how did she think those niggers got to the Bahamas?.... On vacation and just decided to stay? :uhh: idk why Caribbean Americans don't think they were slaves too....

FRANCE

Caribbeans know they were slaves. It's the Americans who have ancestors from the Caribbean that don't know.
