Thanks, be done, because you're obviously trying to prove a point that doesn't exist.

Again, I posted it on THIS board for a reason.

It's not about a "black smear campaign".

I'm black myself and know that we are always at higher risk of MANY things because of the hurdles and obstacles we face in our communities that others do not have to face. Which doesn't stop at HIV. Also includes employment, etc. IS that a smear campaign as well, to say that many of us are unemployed, more than other races? It's the truth, but it's not to say that we are weak, or lazy or any of that. It's proof of the fact that we face more than other races in this country.

Don't be blind to the facts. This is a reason why many of us are out here getting sick.

Yea but there seems to be a bit of an imbalance between the stats that get reported for every group.

I doubt this info will be as publicized as the previous report about one in four black man testing HIV positive.

It's a separate issue that needs to be addressed.  :ermm:

AIDS!

I refuse to participate in the 'black vs. white' HIV issue debate because HIV is a HUMAN issue, not a race issue, but these statistical findings are very interesting.  :ohwow:
It is
But when you have headlines such '1 in 4 black men!'
And headlines like these are silently posted and swept under the rug
I can see why people would ask questions

Ya'll are more concerned with how this make this looks than how it affects you. If we're really concerned about being the face of things that are negative so much, let's petition for Love & Hip Hop to be canceled. Let's truly position ourselves to be the race that doesn't have to go through anything at all. That's what is most important. How people view us. Forget about taking the reports seriously, they're just trying to make us look bad.

I'm done with this conversation. Like ugh
Sound like respectability politics to me.

!!

Only 1/5 of those things my age have hit the clinic

I see why theres so many OTHER diseases outside of HIV that are running rampant amongst young folks

They're not being tested for ANYTHING

im pretty sure Ton' and Theo take the reports seriously. its just sad that so many people are running around like BLACK GAYS are the face of the mess. its offensive and disgusting

a lot worse than the perception that we're all ghetto IMO. I think you can correct some of the ignorance (like the original post did) and share insight, and STILL care about how all of this affects our community.

Opposites Attract.

Thanks for posting this Ton. Im always skeptical about the validity of some of these statistics because they always can be skewed to fit the researchers narrative.

I raised concerns with my org, about the sexual health campaigns all over the country who have Black gay men plastered on ads for PrEP, condoms, and HIV testing in general. I think the visibility is good to push a conversation to be had but I also think it perpetuates a stigma that's even more insidious for Black SGL men.

Either way, it's cool some of you can take this topic seriously sometimes.
